Messaging a Chinese international student yesterday, and she apologised to me that #COVID2019 couldn't be contained in China. She APOLOGISED for a virus that we have no power over, and have had no part in spreading. I'm SO SAD - how are we letting our media and conversations (1)

guilt trip a entire race for a global pandemic? It makes no sense and it sucks bc we watched China hustle so hard to get that thing under control - quarantines and lockdowns and daily health checks - they did and are doing The Most - (2)

Hi I work in hospitality and notice a lot of ppl (esp younger or foreign) get nervous or embarrassed ordering/talking to us so here is a PSA of things you do not need to worry about:

-mispronouncing the menu. We've heard it all, we're not offended. We'll forget it even happened

To summarise if you're not being a jerk, we are not laughing about you behind your back. We forget most of our customers pretty much immediately.
So get out there & order whatever food your heart desires - you deserve it, probably

-getting the change/payment wrong. Again, this is nothing new. In the nicest way possible, we will not remember you.

-calling an ingredient the wrong word. As long as you're not mad at us for any mix-ups, we understand! Not everyone knows shiso from anise and we get that
