President Isaias Afwerki met, in the mid-morning hours today in Alamien, with H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, for extensive talks on bilateral and other matters of vital importance to both countries.
The two Heads of State underlined the imperative of consolidating a conducive political climate that rejects external agendas of interreference so as to safeguard and guarantee the territorial integrity, stability, and peace of Somalia and the unity of its people.
President Isaias further remarked that Federal governance architectures in Somalia and other countries in our region have often failed to meet the peoples' hopes and aspirations for unity and cohesion. Political frameworks that polarize socio-economic, religious and ethnic differences to foment perennial crises and that encourage foreign interventions ought to be supplanted by citizenship-based governance architectures.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, for his part, conveyed his gratitude to President Isaias Afwerki and the Eritrean people for their firm stance and support to the Government and people of Somalia.
President Isaias Afwerki and his delegation returned home in the early afternoon hours today after a fruitful, three-day, working visit to Egypt for a Quadrilateral Consultative Summit.
High points of the visit included:
- the El-Alamein Joint Declaration on enhancement of regional peace and security; and,
- bilateral meetings with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi; Sudan's Chairman of the Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan ; as well as Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The Potemkin Party regime has been incessantly beating the drums of war and openly stating - from the Prime Minister down to its senior military and political officials - that it will launch a war of aggression against Eritrea to acquire what it calls "sovereign access to the sea" and "project maritime power" and presence in the southern coastal areas of Eritrea.
In recent weeks, it has tried to re-package this war agenda in terms of "self-defense" by fabricating various allegations against Eritrea.
In the wake of the upsurge of fighting in the northern part of Ethiopia, one of their senior Generals stated, in an interview with a local media outlet on 27 September last month: "... When we launch the offensive, we will not stop in Tigray.. Our main objective it to install our flag in the Red Sea".
The General also stated, on another occasion: "Mekelle is a mere stop-over, our ultimate destination is Assab".
So let us connect the dots. The writing on wall has remained crystal clear for more than three years now.
The PP's overarching objective is to create a fallacious narrative of "self-defense" to rationalize and camouflage its war of aggression.
This is the holistic picture of reckless and flagrant violation of international law which cannot be blurred through deceptive narratives.

An Interview with Mr. Arefaine Berhe, Minister of Agriculture on MoA's Strategies, Progress and Vision - SAFE AND NUTRITIOUS FOOD FOR EVERYONE; EVERYWHERE
(Monthly Newsletter, 100th Issue, October 2026)
The Interview elaborates on MoA's three distinct strategies focused on house-hold and small-scale farming within the context of, and that complement, broader and large scale commercial modern irrigation.
These are:
i) Minimum Integrated Household Agricultural Package, MIHAP, which focuses on small-scale irrigated agriculture, with particular emphasis on integrated organic farming;
ii) Small and Medium Commercial Farmers Strategy, SMCFS, that targets farmers who produce a wide range of commodities for the market; and,
iii) Comprehensive Small and Productive Farm Plot, SPFP, which addresses the larger segment of farmers who depend on rain-fed agriculture.

Ethiopia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is these days accusing Eritrea for acts of "unprovoked aggression that may jeopardize regional peace and security".
Audacity and duplicity in their most extreme forms!
The indelible facts:
1. Ethiopia has in essence declared a war of aggression against Eritrea when its Prime Minister announced to his Parliament on 13 October 2023 that his regime will acquire "sovereign access to the sea, through negotiations if possible and by force if necessary".
2. As illustrated in the Press Release issued at the time (link below), Eritrea responded with exemplary restraint and equanimity to underline that it will not be provoked by these perplexing pronouncements and events.
3. In subsequent and repetitive campaigns to agitate and solicit support from his domestic constituencies to his war agenda, the PP's leader invoked "Israel's annexation of the Golan Heights" as a useful precedent for what he had in mind for Assab.
4. He went further to denigrate and deny Eritrea's independence by stating that "he could not find any legal documents in all Ethiopian Government archives - the Cabinet, Parliament etc. - in relation to Eritrea's independence".
5. His periodic and strident agitations included urging and reminding the Ethiopian Army that its core mission centered on "ensuring and maintaining the security of the Red Sea from the edge of Somalia to the Port of Massawa".
4. Taking their cue from the Potemkin Party's Chief, senior political and military officials dwelt on provocative statements on several public events; essentially to declare that they will correct the "historical mistake" and forcefully occupy the Eritrean port of Assab as well as its entire southern coastline to secure "strategic depth" to their phantom naval force.
5. And, on 27 September last month, the Ethiopian Army's Deputy Chief of Staff openly declared that "the offensive launched in Tigray will not stop there". He went on to state: "Mekelle is a mere stop-over, our ultimate destination is Assab; our main objective is to install our flag in the Red Sea".
6. The hysterical infatuation with the Red Sea must also be seen with previous intentions to wage a war of invasion against Eritrea but that were not publicly divulged at the time. Indeed, the PP regime did not only try to entice the TPLF to join forces for an invasion against Eritrea in confidential meetings in Djibouti and Seychelles during the Tigray War in early/mid 2022, but a confidential report issued by the EU Envoy after her visit to Ethiopia in September 2022 - a couple of months prior to the Pretoria Agreement - bluntly announced that the 2018 Peace Agreement between Eritrea and Ethiopia had become "null and void". These were apparently sinister machinations to which Eritrea had no inkling at the time.
In brief, the Ethiopian regime has been pursuing, in effect, an unprovoked war of aggression against Eritrea for more than three years now in flagrant breach of foundational principles of international law and the UN Charter that prohibit the threat or use of force against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of another Member State.

๐๏ธ๏ธ The El-Alamein Declaration: An Ironclad Quadrilateral Alliance Reshapes the Horn & Red Sea ๐ช๐ฌ ๐ธ๐ฉ ๐ช๐ท ๐ธ๐ด
The geopolitical tectonic plates have officially locked into place. The Quadrilateral Consultative Summit in El-Alameinโbringing together Presidents Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Isaias Afwerki, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and Sovereign Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhanโhas forged a decisive, legally binding framework to defend sovereignty, secure vital maritime corridors, and counter foreign-backed destabilization.
This is not routine diplomacy; it is a structural containment of unilateral overreach across East Africa and the Red Sea basin.
๐ Strategic Pillars of the El-Alamein Joint Declaration
๐ด Absolute Sovereignty & Non-Interference: The four nations reaffirmed unyielding commitment to territorial integrity, sovereign equality, and good-neighborlinessโcategorically rejecting meddling in domestic affairs under any pretext. ๐ก๏ธ
๐ก Total Rejection of "Somaliland" Recognition: The summit drew a definitive red line against foreign attempts to partition Somalia, affirming full support for Mogadishuโs unity, territorial integrity, and sustainable funding for the AU Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). ๐ธ๐ด๐
๐ฃ Sudanese Sovereignty & Defeating Proxies: The alliance pledged full backing for Sudanโs legitimate national institutions, categorically rejecting parallel governing entities, foreign mercenary pipelines, and cross-border militia logistics. ๐ธ๐ฉโ๏ธ
๐ข Littoral-Only Red Sea Governance: Navigation security and governance of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden remain the exclusive domain and prerogative of coastal states. Non-littoral maritime ambitions have no legal footing. โ๐ช๐ท
๐ต Enforcing Nile Water Law: Unilateral actions on transboundary rivers were firmly rejected. The declaration mandates strict adherence to international law, the "no harm" principle, prior notification, and consensus regarding downstream water security. ๐ง๐ช๐ฌ
โช Permanent Coordination Mechanism: The leaders agreed to formalize a periodic follow-up consultative mechanism to execute summit resolutions and maintain collective deterrence. ๐ค
๐ก Geopolitical Assessment
"When sovereign neighbors unite on international law, unilateral adventurism runs out of road."
While Addis Ababa continues to burn bridges, sever diplomatic lifelines, and manufacture external conflicts to deflect from domestic collapse, Cairo, Asmara, Mogadishu, and Port Sudan have built an impenetrable wall of international legitimacy.
Respect for sovereign borders and mutual deterrence now anchor the region. The era of unilateral coercion in the Horn is over. ๐๏ธโก

Semantic Shifts and Strategic Deceptions: Prosperity Partyโs Rhetorical Pivot on the Red Sea

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The PPโs hostile posture toward Eritrea is part and parcel of a broader expansionist foreign policy that has destabilized the Horn of Africa on multiple fronts including:
1. The PP has pursued a persistent campaign, for three years now, of denigrating Eritrean statehood and advancing expansionist claims over sovereign Eritrean territories.
2. The PPโs hypocrisy is stark; it exploits the fact that AU is headquartered in the Ethiopian capital for purposes of continental diplomacy. At the same time, it bypassed international protocols by signing a unilateral, unlawful Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Somaliland, directly violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
3. Furthermore, the PP regime has aggravated the catastrophic civil war in Sudan by hosting a UAE-financed military training facility, which serves as an active staging ground for cross-border drone strikes, weapon trafficking networks, and the recruitment of Mercenaries to reinforce the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), thereby catalyzing widespread regional destabilization.

Potemkin Party political novices and minions (Abraham Belay et al) are mendaciously trying to weave a new "legal" pretext for the reckless agenda of conflict and war that the regime has been doggedly pursuing against Eritrea for more than three years now.
The transparent and pathetic ploy rests on re-packaging/couching PP's illicit agenda of war for "sovereign access to the sea" and projecting "naval military power with strategic depth in Eritrea's southern coastal zone" in the language of "self-defense".
But this wicked and deceitful approach cannot find currency or traction anywhere.
The indelible facts are - and this is in the public record as illustrated in the link below:
1. Potemkin Party's senior political and military leaders have been wedded to an expansionist war agenda and have made multiple provocative statements to that end in the past three years;
2. As corroborated by the testimony of none other than Getachew Redda, PP's aggressive agenda in fact precedes its first public pronouncement by its leader in October 2023.
3. Indeed, in August 2022 and while the war was raging in the Tigray Region, the Potemkin Party proposed to the TPL,F during the peace talks in Djibouti and Seychelles, "to bury the hatchet and join forces to invade Eritrea as the ultimate, common, enemy".
4. The Potemkin Party has also continued to host and sponsor notorious, even if inconsequential, Eritrean subversive groups (RASDO etc..) for the purposes of "regime change".
In a nutshell, and coupled with its myriad acts of regional destabilization, the culprit and source of instability in the region which continues to flout international law with impunity is, and remains, the Potemkin Party with its delusional aspirations of "regional grandeur".

President Isaias Afwerki met, yesterday afternoon in Alamien, with General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the Chairman of Sudanโs Sovereignty Council, for extensive discussion on bilateral relations as well as regional and international matters of mutual interest to both countries.
The meeting, which took place on the margins of the Quadrilateral Consultative Summit, is part and parcel of the regular consultations held between the leaders on bilateral and other broad issues of mutual interest.
Potemkin Party's characteristic behaviour of speaking with a forked tongue is again in full display.
In a Press Statement issued by the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry today in an apparent reaction to the El-Alamien Declaration, the PP pays lip-service to the pursuit of "peaceful engagement, mutual respect, and regional cooperation". It further urges "all regional actors to address shared challenges through constructive dialogue, partnership, and adherence to the principles of good neighborliness...".
But this is the crux of the matter.
The Potemkin Party's duplicitous antics aside, the prevailing tension that has gripped the Horn of Africa region emanates precisely from its perilous acts perpetrated over the past years and that violate international law and the prospects and opportunities of healthy regional cooperation.
Indeed, these are the poignant facts:
1. Ethiopia enjoys unfettered access to all ports in the Horn of Africa. In what can be termed as a "buyers market", it has extensive latitude to enter into mutually beneficial commercial agreements with all the coastal countries concerned. But the Potemkin Party chose to violate international law and the principles of good neighborliness to pursue an agenda of aggression and war against Eritrea to "acquire sovereign access to the sea".
2. As spelled out in previous public statements by its Foreign Ministry, the invasion of the Eritrean port of Assab must include the southern coastal zone too. In the PP's convoluted logic: "without the protective depth offered by the Dahlak islands, Assab remains an exposed coastal facility vulnerable to hostile naval power... any enduring arrangement for Ethiopia must therefore consider a dual reality: access to the coast and the strategic depth required to protect that access".
3. Similarly, the Potemkin Party has fomented unnecessary and avoidable tensions with Somalia and Sudan through willful acts that breach international law and impede regional cooperation. The illicit MOU that it signed with Somaliland in flagrant breach of Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity; the all-rounded support that it continues to provide to the RSF under the bidding of the UAE are deplorable acts that have jeopardized regional peace and security.
Finally, Ethiopia's insinuation that some geographic proximity to the Red Sea entitles it with the rights and responsibilities of the littoral States is too ludicrous and hollow in purely legal terms to merit response.

ERITREA โ Minister of Information Yemane Gebremeskel welcomed the United Statesโ decision to lift sanctions on his country, describing the move as reflecting โa record of constructive political goodwillโ and saying it could pave the way for a new chapter in bilateral cooperation, particularly in investment and trade.
In comments to ๐ด๐ โ๐๐๐ ๐ด๐-๐ด๐ค๐ ๐๐ก, the minister said the lifting of the sanctions, which had caused significant economic damage to his country, sends an important message to the international community.
A few days ago, the United States ended sanctions imposed on Eritrea under a program linked to the crisis in Ethiopia, citing Eritreaโs military role in the war that erupted in Ethiopiaโs Tigray region and ended with a peace agreement in 2022. Washington said the termination of the emergency reflected changed circumstances underlying the measures.
The US Treasury Department announced that the national emergency concerning the situation in Ethiopia, established under an executive order issued in September 2021, had ended. As a result, entities and individuals designated under that order were removed from the US sanctions list. These included the Peopleโs Front for Democracy and Justice, Eritreaโs ruling party; the Eritrean Defense Forces; Red Sea Trading Corporation; and several Eritrean officials.
In his comments to ๐ด๐ โ๐๐๐ ๐ด๐-๐ด๐ค๐ ๐๐ก, the minister stressed that the sanctions being lifted โwere not justified by any standards in the first place and caused significant economic damage.โ
He added: โTheir removal sends an important message to the international community by eliminating a political bias that was not conducive to investment and broader engagement.โ
He said the specific scope of cooperation in the coming period would be determined through appropriate channels and platforms, with a focus on investment and trade.
Regarding the role of ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฌ, the US presidentโs senior adviser for Arab and African affairs, he said Boulos met with Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh on the sidelines of his recent visit to Cairo.
He explained that the previous meetings had been โpreliminary discussions aimed at laying the groundwork for broader talks at appropriate levels on comprehensive bilateral cooperation, with a focus on investment and trade,โ expressing hope that the lifting of sanctions would accelerate these contacts.
Regarding the immediate implications of lifting the sanctions, he said the move opens โprospects for restoring lost opportunities and moving forward rapidly.โ He noted that Eritrea has advantages in multiple sectors and is open to investment in areas of mutual benefit, supported by โa developed legal and administrative infrastructure.โ
He emphasized that โEritreaโs international partnerships have always been based on sustainable ties that enhance mutual and equitable benefits, while avoiding imbalanced advantages or structural dependency. These principles have become norms governing bilateral and multilateral cooperation.โ
๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐๐ ๐ฒ๐ฉ๐ญ
Regarding relations with Egypt, he said: โCooperation with Egypt has developed rapidly over the past decade, not only because of history and geography, but also because the two countries are located in a vital strategic region, particularly along the Red Sea maritime route, and share similar views on mechanisms for cooperation among coastal states to enhance the security of this waterway.โ
He added: โEritrea, Egypt, and other like-minded countries in the Horn of Africa and Red Sea region have moved beyond slogans toward mechanisms for joint action to strengthen regional security and stability.โ
He stressed that โthe principles of the Council of Arab and African Coastal States of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden remain a key platform for multilateral cooperation, alongside convergence in positions on resolving the conflict in Sudan and the situation in Somalia.โ
