When you realize love is a choice and it’s not some arbitrary feeling you stumble into; self love becomes a little more manageable. A kind word to yourself, a nice gesture, extending yourself grace, that is love and each new day is a new opportunity to practice it.
In many traditions, the place your ancestors walked is sacred. In the tradition of love, the place where that love lived is sacred. It’s a place of both ruptures and resolutions. Let it be a place you can dwell. A place you can come home to. A place you can rest and recount.
Friday was an incredibly historic day as Monk v. United States became one of the few federal reparations cases to survive a motion to dismiss in American history! https://t.co/ZziRGnf4Sn
Dear Oncologists,
A note on what cancer patients don’t expect — if you can prep us for these common surprises, we appreciate it!
Benignly,
ThanksCancer
@barbarawaxer @ThanksCancer No! Someone mentioned “chemo brain” and talked about it like it would go away after treatment. My oncologist also didn’t mention that endocrine therapy meds also continue to degrade your memory and cognitive function.
@Karolinaaaaa___ Military culture often dictates ppl do things a lot earlier than the rest of the population. When I got out and went to grad school my civilian peers who were my age (28) were happily unmarried and were honestly shocked at ppl already having families.
Stop trying to predict the arc of the universe,
set your heart towards things that ground you.
Things that free you from the tension this world creates
also bring you closer to discovering your true self.
Our task here is not to find purpose,
but to live with it.
one day, you’ll have to let go of the expectations you’ve carrying about who you were supposed to be, so that you can fully appreciate the beautiful person you’ve become. you’ll have to look in the mirror without flinching. you’ll have to meet yourself where you’re at.
If strength does not allow you to cry and to say aloud the fear that plagues you at night then strength is nothing but a cloak. It only covers your scars. I’d much rather contemplate vulnerability, softness, and safety.
I've been thinking about our reliance on prisons, & more specifically about its ability to recreate itself in our hearts and minds even if we claim to be progressive or even some prison abolitionist.
Especially in light of what's happening in Tennessee, Florida, & Oklahoma

It’s morally insane that a week after a mass shooting took six lives in our community, House Republicans only response is to expel us for standing with our constituents to call for gun control.
What’s happening in Tennessee is a clear danger to democracy all across this nation.
