Today, October 10th, marks exactly one year since we laid you to rest, Mum. Today is your first memorial anniversary, and I still find it difficult to believe that an entire year has passed without you. 💔🕊️
This week has been incredibly rough, emotionally and mentally. I miss you every single day, Mum, and I hope you are at peace wherever you are. I honestly cannot believe that I haven’t heard your voice, seen your face, or had a conversation with you in over a year. Losing you has left scars in our hearts that I don’t know if we will ever truly heal from.
Navigating life without you, Mum, has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. You were my greatest source of strength, comfort, and support. I never imagined I would have to go through an entire year without seeing you or speaking to you. Even now, it still feels so unreal.
The heartache, the heaviness in my heart, and the struggle to accept that I will never see you again have broken me in ways I cannot fully explain. Some days, I still struggle to process the reality of your absence. If I could, I would bring you back a billion times, Mum. That’s how much you mean to me.
Mum, we laid you to rest on October 10th, 2025, and today, October 10th, 2026, we mark one year since we said our final goodbyes. You were such a special woman, and no amount of time will ever change what you mean to us.
It hasn’t been easy for any of us in the family. We’ve all had to find our own ways of living with the pain of losing you, but through it all, God has been God. His grace has continued to carry us, even on the days when the grief feels unbearable.
I pray that God continues to give us the strength to keep going through the pain and the loss, to find comfort in the beautiful memories we shared, and to carry your love with us for the rest of our lives.
And I promise you, Mum, that I will keep pushing, keep growing, and keep making you proud. I hope that wherever you are, you can see how much we love you and how hard we’re trying to navigate this life without you.
I love you every day, Mum. I think about you every day, and I will carry you in my heart for as long as I live.
EVELYN CHUKWU 💔🕊️
