Five younger colleagues are leaving for new jobs this month. It’ll take a combined 12-15 years of training to replace their positions and even more to replace their experience. Big loss for Austin - especially @VanessaForATX’s Del Valle district, where most were assigned.

Civic duty complete! Just recommended the allocation of $259k in federal funding to 7 local nonprofits. 5 months of grant review, site visits, & discussion complete.

Grateful for this experience & so grateful for our nonprofits. One of the most rewarding processes ever.

Government leaders still aren’t grasping the magnitude of the EMS workforce crisis.

Only 27% of certified Texas EMS personnel submitted a patient care report in 2021. Overwhelming majority aren’t working on an ambulance. This is more than a 1% crisis.

City of Austin: Down 25% staffing and unable to fill a cadet class. Offers 1% wage increase.
