I see the red tops are gleefully running away with their sensationalist headlines about St.Mirren’s cup final ticket distribution.

Let’s concentrate on actual facts shall we?

1) Saints original ticket allocation is just 9.5K tickets.

2) The absolute maximum amount of tickets they can possibly receive is 17.5K, which would still leave Celtic with over 30K

3) The 20 ticket per person is for Saints season ticket holders only, it is not a free for all general sale.

4) The generous allocation per ST holder is so that large groups can easily buy seats to sit together.

There are 12 season ticket holders in our group for example, but only 1 person needs to login and buy the tickets.

We aren’t going to buy 240 tickets.

5) The club is trying to ensure St.Mirren end tickets do not fall into Celtic supporter hands.

The onus is on our season ticket holders at this stage to ensure that remains the case.

If you can’t trust your season ticket holders who can you trust?

6) At £40 per ticket it seems fairly obvious that fans are not going to buy £800 worth of tickets just “for a laugh”.

Every ticket that is being bought is for someone who wants to come along and support St.Mirren.

7) There might well be fans in the St.Mirren end who haven’t attended many or even any games so far this season.

That is the nature of cup finals for smaller teams, indeed for ANY team.

People come from far and wide to attend a cup final. This isn’t a bad thing.

8) Hampden is supposed to be a neutral venue. This is not a Celtic home game.

9) St.Mirren can do what they like, and as long as their supporters are happy with the arrangements it shouldn’t concern anybody else.

I wouldn’t say they are horrible to watch, I’d say very basic (in a complimentary way). They go long from goal kicks and that’s it. They attack down both flanks by getting their wingbacks high and put in cross after cross. Why not when they have two giants up front?
