If you encounter a Ugandan operator talking to themselves, don’t laugh at them, hug them and assure them things will one day get better.

TOURISM generally plus the whole economy has been hit so hard for at least 6 to 7yrs. Bad communication has been at the center of this.

Yesterday I met one of Ugandas ‘economists’ and we started chatting about the Ugandan shilling. He immediately starts talking about fiscal policies and I tell him, stooop it.

Kenya’s shillings strong because of exporting of agricultural products and tourism strength, nothing else.

Our exports are falling and tourism is on the death bed, let’s stoop those fiscal policy stories.

Today, I was honoured to host Hon. @JCMuyingo, the acting Minister @Educ_SportsUg , who commissioned @OfficialMubs new three-storey, 2,000-seater classroom block.

The facility provides much-needed additional learning space for our growing population of over 30,000 students, enhancing face-to-face learning, interaction and collaboration.

I appreciate the @GovUganda, @Educ_SportsUg for their continued support, the MUBS Council, engineers and project team for their commitment to delivering this facility on schedule.

The Minister’s emphasis on translating infrastructure into quality education, innovation, relevant skills and job creation reinforces our commitment to preparing graduates for Uganda’s transformation.

A significant milestone as MUBS continues to invest in its students, strengthen learning infrastructure and build for the future.

Something has been on my mind since 2025: How can we ensure that students have access to safe, affordable drinking water 24/7?

Today, together with the Chairperson of COBAMS @MwesigyeAron ,had an engagement with @ecowaterug to explore how this idea can be brought to life at Makerere University.

At a time when the allowances and financial support available to many students are limited, every saving matters. Having safe and affordable drinking water readily available on campus would not only improve access to clean water, but also help reduce the daily expenditure students incur while trying to meet this basic need.

I believe this could be a valuable venture for Makerere students, providing safe, affordable and readily available drinking water around the clock.

The engagement was quite fruitful. We also had the opportunity to visit one of the projects EcoWater has already implemented, where we saw firsthand how people are accessing safe and affordable drinking water from the facility.

Seeing the project in operation and the people benefiting from it gave me even more confidence that this is something that can positively impact students at @Makerere

I sincerely hope that Makerere University will consider giving @ecowaterug the opportunity to introduce this service on our campus and make safe, affordable and accessible drinking water available to students 24/7.
