Just watched the movie “Dear You”. It touched my heart deeply.

This film shows the simple and true kindness of Chinese people: keeping promises, being faithful, and always repaying kindness.

A warm and wonderful movie, totally worth watching.

Carney is currently in Beijing describing a "new era of relations between Canada and China" and explicitly talking about both countries becoming "strategic partners" on a comprehensive range of issues, including "issues on security."

There is no overstating how extraordinary this is to anyone who's followed Canada-China relations in the past few years. Canada was probably THE country globally most aligned with the U.S. when it comes to China.

As a reminder they literally abducted the daughter of Huawei's founder on the U.S.'s behalf and held her hostage for years despite severe Chinese retaliation - all in service of Washington's containment strategy.

So for all intents and purposes Canada used to actually embody the Monroe Doctrine in practice: they were all-in on the US! And now Trump has achieved the extraordinary feat of changing that calculus, impressing upon Canada that HE was the threat and that they needed to hedge their US exposure.

I mean, imagine telling anyone during the Meng Wanzhou episode that 4 years later Canada would be in Beijing, asking them for a strategic partnership on security matters while America threatens to annex it 😅

Over the past year Trump has taken many steps to dismantle the US Canada relationship. He has acted as a bully in the sandpit and many times stated the US doesn’t need Canada 🇨🇦

But who there for the Americans after 9/11? It was Canada. Who has been the best trading partner and reliable safe neighbor for our entire history as a country? Canada

Trump has made it clear he wants to dismantle the rules based order, invade countries, expand his territory and act like a King 👑 These values don’t align with Canada and we need leadership who isn’t afraid to stand up and do what’s in the best interest of Canada

Let’s go back to the best recent economy for Canada. That was under the leadership of Harper who expanded and had robust trade with China. Canadians prospered and the Canadian dollar became so strong it was at one point on par with the USD.

The China/Canadian trade deal is a win win for both Canada and China. It proves that China can successfully protect and promote its foreign trade (which is vital for its economy) even with the uncertainty geopolitical situation.

Huge credit to both Carney and Xi. If Trump wanted a new world order, he is getting one, I guess the moral of the story is be careful what you wish for

She is one of the worst figures in Chinese history. She wanted bloodshed, but only from others, not her own. She lied to her fellow students and urged them to keep protesting and stay in the square, even though she knew the government was sending in troops.
