A 44-year-old member of the Mpumalanga Flying Squad has been arrested in Secunda this morning in connection with an investigation into the alleged hijacking of diesel trucks in the province.

The police officer was reportedly arrested as he arrived for duty at the Secunda Police Station during an intelligence-driven operation targeting individuals allegedly involved in diesel truck hijackings.

According to information available, the investigation uncovered allegations linking the officer to the planning of a diesel truck hijacking.

The arrest has raised serious concerns about alleged criminal activity involving a serving police member, particularly as law-enforcement agencies intensify efforts to dismantle organised syndicates targeting trucks transporting fuel and other valuable goods.

The suspect is expected to face criminal charges as the investigation continues. Further details regarding the alleged hijacking plot, the identity of other suspects and the circumstances surrounding the arrest are expected to emerge as police proceedings unfold.
