@elonmusk do small batteries exist that last longer than 45 min. I own a landscape business and just can’t convert to batteries that cost $300+ for 45 min. I mean better ones have to exist right?
#growthmindset I don’t understand why it is that an “honors” student is exempt from this practice. Educators are more willing to let a Non-Honors student reassess but somehow the actual “honors” student isn’t? Thoughts @Ron_Martiello
As the year ends and I begin thinking and planning for a new. I only wish this was a mindset more people had. #growthmindset seems to be a topic that many people like to talk about but few are willing to embrace and put it into practice.
Yes I will give a student a second, third, forth.......chance! As many chances as it takes for a child to succeed! That’s my job, that’s what I signed up for - to be the difference, to go one more round! #relentless
@jiveDurkey Interesting when I read the title with the F word it was what I heard because it’s what I was fixated on. Once I read what it meant to say, heard that. Interesting how the mind hears what it’s told to hear.
@stephaniefitler @Ron_Martiello @Flipgrid @DonnaWeth@MrsBarnett_Tchr @jlangUPE One of my Ss just asked yesterday if we could bring back the Mentor program I happily said yes. @Ron_Martiello gonna be looking for connections. #AMPMath, Associative Math Pals.
@alicekeeler The only reason students learn dividing by negatives is for use of algebraic reasoning and so that the rules of mathematics are kept true. So unfortunately there is no story you can provide for any positive number divided by a negative. This is what makes their understanding hard
@alicekeeler Negative numbers in fact weren’t even accepted into mathematical practice until the 18th century. They were known about but we only use them in Algebraic reasoning because they can be physically explained by geometric means. It wasn’t until calculus when they were meaningful
@ddmeyer Starting a company. While doing it for personal reasons. It does present a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate and have creditability as to how mathematics is used in the “Real” world.
@megburkeNPSD @Ron_Martiello I have not but will make for a fun 10 min tomorrow morning. Thanks for the link 😀👍 I have book full of riddles that I do with the kids from time to time but generally I write them on the board.
@Ron_Martiello @bakerbg@marcgosselinjr I would first demo two equal lots of 15 and 15. To show 15+15 = 30 min. Then, more importantly I would stress that this is the basis of what mult of 2(15) is, using this notation. 90% of my students in Alg I can’t def mult. Which is important in the understanding of patterns
