Trump on Ramaswamy Ad: The press has ganged up on a woman making a horrible statement about her daughter, and I don't know why she the daughter should be shielded. She said she was a dirty liar. I donโt know why you arenโt allowed to say that.
This is one talking point that I think is way overblown. The model progress has been steady, not exponential, and progress could easily be slowing down.
OpenAI's internal models are WAY more powerful than people think
The fact that GPT-5.6 Sol found a PHP security flaw yesterday is genuinely impressive
Honestly, I think people are sleeping on what OpenAI is building behind the scenes
Anthropic has been cooking with fable 5.5 but I wouldn't underestimate OpenAI for a second We only see a fraction of what OpenAi is testing internally and there's a big difference between what a company has in development and what it actually releases to the public
OpenAI's internet-focused model is expected to arrive before the end of 2026 or early next year
I have a feeling OpenAI isn't done surprising people this year
CNN: Republicans outperform senate polls in Trump states by an average of 4.1 points
If that pattern continues:
Ohio: ๐ต Dem +4 -> ๐ด GOP +0.1
Michigan: ๐ต Dem +3 -> ๐ด GOP +1
Alaska: ๐ต Dem +3 -> ๐ด GOP +1
Texas: ๐ต Dem +3 -> ๐ด GOP +1
Iowa: ๐ต Dem +1 -> ๐ด GOP +3
Since no one on this site seems to understand why we're down, I'm going to offer my own suggestion: META capex bar was high and it was incredibly disappointing. Compare the language from previous quarters to now.
Q3 2024 (guiding 2025): Explicitly warned of "significant capital expenditures growth in 2025" (CapEx subsequently nearly doubled from ~$39B to $72.2B).
โQ3 2025 (guiding 2026): Explicitly warned that CapEx dollar growth would be "notably larger in 2026 than in 2025" (CapEx nearly doubled again to narrowed $135Bโ$145B range, a warning that initially knocked the stock down ~8%).
โQ3 2026 (guiding 2027): The phrases "significant growth" and "notably larger" have been completely scrubbed. In their place is "continue investing aggressively".
this is my quarterly AI crashout
if you read my tweets you know im a shitposter and unserious, but im being serious and vulnerable right now. I am very pessimistic about the future of every career because I don't believe there will be a single thing AI isnt faster, cheaper, and better at than me. It is great that AI helps me get so much done, but it is humiliating that it has made a lot of skill acquisition itself completely pointless. I pride myself on being a fast learner, but there seems to be zero value in learning anything anymore. The future is monarchist feudalism and the destruction of the middle class and lower upper class. I don't think social mobility matters anymore because I don't think there will be money in the future. People talk about "the permanent underclass" all the time, but I think the millionaires will be on the side of the proletariat. You have all the money or no money. Money will depreciate so fast because there is nothing you would pay each other for. There will be precisely two types of transactions remaining: the transfer of capital, and petty transactions like buying food or water. Financialization will break down as the cost of skill, expertise, IP, etc goes to zero. I used to believe I have developed a set of skills that would be profitable for a long time. But there are no such thing as hard skills anymore. In the future, if you survive, if you do anything, if you have a position in society at all, it is because the powers that be are humoring your existence for whatever reason. I wish I was two years older, though I don't wish I was five years older, and I'm thankful I'm not two years younger
