In the process of creating a website - primarily for the purpose of putting all of my podcast transcripts into one place. Here is my first post from my recent interview with Mark Solms:

“… the analyst is the memory keeper of the patient's mind, her unique experience of the world, how she has come to understand this world, and how it has shaped her, and she has shaped it.”

@DoctorPerin@Itmustbetues@JDaviesPhD I don’t disagree that ADHD’s history is inseparable from pediatrics and brain development. But that’s a historical claim, not proof that ADHD is fundamentally a brain disorder. My argument doesn’t depend on the moral-deficit model.
@Itmustbetues@DoctorPerin@JDaviesPhD If adhd is seen as a brain-based disorder, or an instrinsic disorder, the concern is the curative emphasis will be on stimulants. If it is seen as a person-development/environmental phenomenon, the hope is that the curative emphasis will be on alternative resources
@DoctorPerin@Itmustbetues@JDaviesPhD Put another way, I think the argument is there isn’t enough good evidence to suggest ADHD is a [problem, dysfunction, disorder, disease, whatever like word you prefer] of the brain. and by using neuro- in front of developmental, people assume it is a problem with the brain
@DoctorPerin@Itmustbetues@JDaviesPhD I’m actually not sure I completely agree, but I think that is the argument. That there isn’t enough to show that ADHD is a bottom up brain disorder, and that by calling it a neurodevelopmental disorder, we risk assuming neuro- as an explanation rather than a description
@DoctorPerin@Itmustbetues@JDaviesPhD Psychiatric disorders recognized in childhood (e.g., reactive attachment disorder) are developmental disorders related to the growing physical brain, and yet we needn’t classify it as a neurodevelopmental disorder.
@Itmustbetues@JDaviesPhD@DoctorPerin Everything relates to the brain. By that logic, we might as well throw the word neuro in front of every human experience.
sisyphus was just a dad who had a three year old son who asked him many times a day to build something really cool and actually quite impressive out of magna tiles with the sole purpose of having it immediately knocked over
