These investigations are complicated, take time and resources, and so it's not terribly surprising that it's only in 2024 that we're starting to see results. Let's hope it's just the beginning of the effort to end market manipulation and abuse.
It's about damn time that the SEC and DOJ have stepped up to finally do something - as many of you know, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There have been other actions, such as that against Anson Funds, but there are so many others that need to be brought to justice.
Is this the first step forward in truly addressing market abuse? The SEC and DOJ together charged Andrew Left and Citron with civil and CRIMINAL charges for securities fraud and market manipulation.
This is a big deal.
South Korea found 7 more banks engaged in illegal and abusive short selling, bringing the total to 9 out of the 14 they've been investigating! This announcement names Credit Suisse as one of the 9 banks.

In an announcement from Next Bridge, they claim that "representatives of short sellers have approached Next Bridge about buying considerably more shares" than have been publicly reported as short. That's quite a statement - if true then transparency is needed from regulators.
CONGRESS APPEARS TO BE HIDING THEIR NEW STOCK TRADES.
Been posting about this for days, but don’t see anyone covering it.
I have code that detects when new congressional financial disclosures are filed.
It has seen four new filings in 2024, but none have been made publicly available.
This means that the public cannot see new stock trades by the House of Representatives.
The STOCK Act is supposed to require that new disclosures are made publicly available.
Hoping we can all draw enough attention to this to get answers on why this does not seem to be the case.
I will be posting updates.
At the start of this year, we began actively sharing our work tracking politicians' financial ties on X.
Since then, we’ve seen thousands of stock trades by Members of Congress.
Here have been some of the most well-timed purchases:
SENATOR TOMMY TUBERVILLE - XP INC.
Senator Tommy Tuberville bought stock in the Brazilian investment management company called XP Inc. on April 3rd.
The stock has risen over 140% since.
REPRESENTATIVE MARK GREEN - NGL ENERGY
Representative Mark Green up to $250K of stock in a small company called NGL Energy Partners in March.
The stock has risen over 110% since.
REPRESENTATIVE GOTTHEIMER - ADYEN
Representative Josh Gottheimer bought stock in a Dutch company called Adyen on October 16th.
The stock has risen over 60% since.
Adyen is a financial services company, and Gottheimer sits on the House Financial Services Committee.
SENATOR TINA SMITH - TACTILE SYSTEMS
Senator Tina Smith bought stock in two small medical devices companies in November.
Artivion has risen over 35% since her purchase.
Tactile has risen over 40% since her purchase.
Smith sits on the Senate Committee on Health.
VARIOUS MEMBERS - NVIDIA
Nvidia was one of the most frequently bought stocks by lawmakers towards the start of the year.
It has risen 243% this year.
FINAL NOTES
If there is interest, I will also post an update on some of the most well-timed sales of the year.
Thanks again for the support in 2023.
We just saw a congressman sell off up to $840K of stock.
Representative John Curtis made 56 stock trades.
They were all sales.
Curtis' name might be familiar.
In March, we caught him selling stock in First Republic Bank.
The bank went bankrupt shortly after.
