After 2 years working on the #ALGS, I have taken the decision to leave EA. I’m super proud to have played a part in the growth of the league over the past few years, and excited to watch ALGS Year 4 as a fan. Thanks to all of the players, teams, and my colleagues for being great!
With the #ALGS Year 3 Championship wrapped up, that’s the end of ALGS Year 3, and we definitely couldn’t have asked for a better end to the season. This also marks my second year with the @PlayApexEsports team at EA, and I’m so excited for Year 4, but for now, a family vacation..
@hodsic@_minustempo@PlayApexEsports@HMGaming We shared this in the Pro League Discord earlier this month, but we actually won't be requiring coaches to stay seated at the Split 2 Playoffs, just within a (larger) marked area behind their team to avoid any competitive integrity concerns.
@Proficiency_@chris_pipher The 4 winners of each CC tournament in Split 2 qualify for the LCQ + an undetermined number of teams (all non-qualified Champs teams from the Pro League) qualify via points which we'll announce following the Split 2 Playoffs, and all remaining slots are filled by top CC teams.
@coldjyn Got it. Well, if it’s a UI/UX or process issue rather than disagreeing with the rules, then I’d rather put our focus into making the process better for the players and coaches rather than changing the rules, so let me chat with the team.
@coldjyn I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on how that would look. It’s my opinion that the team that participates in the Playoffs should be the team that qualified (assuming no emergencies or exigent circumstances) but curious to see how much flexibility you’d like to have?
@coldjyn With regards to those coaches, ultimately, they follow the same process as their players to join the roster and be recognised as a member of the team, but if they’re ever confused about the process, they should ask us.
@coldjyn Do you share the same opinion about the roster lock for players? Do you think a team should be able change the roster so that it differs from the team that qualified?
That’s a wrap for the #ALGS Year 3 Split 1 Playoffs, thanks to all of the teams, staff, partners and fans for making it one to remember, and a special shout-out to all of the admins and the League Ops team for putting up with me!
@Exodus_txt Unfortunately, you attempted to join the roster on January 23rd, 2023, when the roster lock for your region took place on December 6th, 2022 which covers all coaches and players as covered in the rules.
@Gnaske_Lone Top 20 teams advance to the Regional Finals, with the winner of the Regional Finals automatically qualifying for the Split 1 Playoffs, and the next 4 teams (ranked by points in regular season) also qualify. The RF award points like every other series (25, 21, 18, 16 etc).
@PVPX_ Sorry for the confusion, but the rules haven't changed, your coach can still be listed as a fourth player and act as a coach in matches that they're not playing in.
