But it turns out 12 of the class of 26 have been off with the same horrible not-COVID flu thing.

I almost ended up under the wheels of an SUV when the driver tried overtaking me with a car coming the other way. I didn't use rude words, but gave a sarcastic thumbs up.
NL Twitter, the driver gave me a thumbs up in return, were they stupid? Or have I misunderstood the gesture?
