That rage you feel is sacred. Honor it.
We’re in the fight of our lives and honestly we have been for some time now.
Don’t allow yourself to go numb. Don’t look away. None of this shit is normal.
RIGHT NOW: Minneapolis is SHUT DOWN.
20,000+ people have flooded the streets in an emergency protest after federal agents killed ICU nurse Alex Pretti.
This was an execution. And the city is responding like it knows it.
@MeghanEMurphy it has nothing to do with whether they 'like' a client or not and everything to do with it being part of their job.
If a doctor likes a patient they dont waive the visit fee, if a server enjoys patrons they still charge them, if a mechanic likes a client.. client still pays...
@MeghanEMurphy your argument also invalidates that sex work is labor whether its the act, forming a relationship, tending to someones fantasy (and being able to act it out), building a brand, a persona... etc all of this is part of a *job* which is why people pay.
@MeghanEMurphy the point you're trying to make is laughably misguided.
And your responses to people sharing their experience is abhorrent. You have a group of people sharing their experience and you're willfully holding that your opinion holds more truth than their lived experience. Yikes.
@MeghanEMurphy Hi psychotherapist here.
sex workers can absolutely enjoy sex *and* not all the sex they have is going to be satisfying, they're doing their job (as long as they consent).
do you enjoy every minute of your job?
this tweet isnt the hot take you think it is
@Duderichy Psychotherapist here... I can assure you all sorts of 'average' people (of all genders) hire SWers for a variety of reasons
Not sure why youre on some tirade to demean the work SWers do but you may at least want to educate yourself if youre going to make such blanketed statements
@All_KOIE Finally, finding a right therapist can take a few tries.
Like dating - you may have a few first or second dates (in this case sessions) before you find the right fit.
If you arent feeling it a few sessions in feel free to ask for referrals and continue searching.
@All_KOIE There are a variety of therapy modalities. Pending what you'd like to work on some may be a better fit than others.
While the search can be daunting having an idea of what you'd like to work on and which therapeutic modalities match up with that might help you narrow things down
@hollowearthterf If you don't want to educate yourselves so be it, you can just say you're whorephobic and go.
sex workers are people who deserve safety and happiness just like everybody else... this isn't rocket science.

@hollowearthterf as a psychotherapist/clinical researcher who specializes in SW these comments are not it! the job is not the issue, the way society treats people in the industry is (and the conflation between work and trafficking). If youd like to educate yourself I'm happy to link resources
