Modera: @Daniela_DeBono.
Online at last!
A groundbreaking 1986 book that examines the different forms of forced migration & responses to them.

#Libya's Interior Minister (Dbeibah gov) claims 4 million migrants in the country. From which database, exactly?
You can't even estimate those who arrived with contracts. Stop fabricating numbers just to scare Europe and cash in on "interceptions"Enough.
#Tunisia
Since June 8, dozens of bodies likely of migrants have washed up on the shores of #Sfax and #Mahdia. Tunisian authorities remain silent,as they have since last year.
EU border #externalization has turned our sea and beaches into migrant graves.

My article on how unauthorised #Mediterranean boat journeys are simultaneously invisible and deeply present. I interweave the travellers’ experiences with the social and political processes traversing this liquid border. The article can be accessed: https://t.co/rmM51U8bvX
After more than six years, another court hearing was adjourned today. Justice is again delayed and denied. The #ElHiblu3 have suffered enough.

Join us back in court on 12 June.

Six years of painful limbo. The #elhiblu3 have been robbed of the best years of their life - and it is not over yet. We ask gor this mistake to be rectified by having the charges dropped!
“I feel very frustrated and so helpless... I have been deprived of my youth,” said Kromah.
Six years of injustice in #Malta. We continue to say: Drop the charges, free the #ElHiblu3!

Outside the court, Malta's President Emeritus Marie Louise Coleiro Preca said today: "I will keep defending them until they are freed, and I will keep defending the rights of children wherever they come from".

“On this #InternationalMigrantsDay I see weird publications from people who claim to celebrate the resilience of migrants. And a ridiculous one from @UNmigration and @IOMchief , I don’t see a reason to celebrate because as I speak there are millions and millions of Africans who are forced to flee and are dying every day” - @DavidYambio
Yesterday at the 86th vigil remembering #DaphneCaruanaGalizia's assassination, I spoke about the systemic injustices and state violence that non-Maltese residents and refugees in #Malta are subjected to on a daily basis.

Thanks to all the supporters who came to show their solidarity at the #ElHiblu3 hearing today in Malta.
After more than 2,000 days, three young men remain in limbo.
We are back in court on January 22nd. See you there.

1/8 Biggar's Colonialism: A Moral Reckoning has become the handbook, one might almost say the Bible, for imperial apologists. The myths underpinning Robert Jenrick's recent call for the victims of colonialism to say "thank you" are drawn from it.

Today, as the Coalition for the El Hiblu 3, we are proud to launch our new website where you can find information and material concerning the case of the #ElHiblu3 in #Malta, which has now dragged on for 2,043 days! As always, we say: Drop the Charges!

Very worrying that #UNHCR pivots back to ill-conceived idea of #regional processing. It is not an alternative to border control, but its #externalization. What are the human rights and geopolitical ramifications of persuading another country to host this? https://t.co/PKF6mZRcpI
It has been 11 years since the century’s deadliest shipwreck in the #Mediterranean Sea.
📌On 3 October 2013, in #Lampedusa, 368 people lost their lives.
💙Today our hearts are with the survivors and the families of the victims.
📣Today we ask once again, louder, for no more deaths at sea.
"Those who don't drown are locked up"
Important new report (in German) by @ProAsyl, highlighting the gross human rights violations committed by #Malta, both at sea and on land.

“We will continue to stand beside them as they weather this cruel injustice. We will stand with the El Hiblu 3 as long as it takes and until they are free.”

We hope, at every hearing in the last 6 years, that the #elhiblu3 will be set free, that their innocence is recognised and that this gross travesty of justice comes to an end. That day was not today.
The opportunity to finally end the farcical trial of the #ElHiblu3 was missed today at the court of #Malta. We are appalled that Amara, Kader and Abdalla will remain in legal limbo. We will continue to stand beside them as they weather this cruel injustice.
