Just had the most impressive email from @viagogo in response to what occurred at @yorkbarbican for the @rickygervais concert MOST didn't get to see!! Well done for an incredible gesture and ensuring @yorkbarbican is held accountable and people know it!

@yorkbarbican @rickygervais They weren't FAKE, Barbican blanket dealt with what was an isolated issue, the fact the venue wasn't full when the show started is proof of that!
If I were @viagogo, I'd be exploring the legalities around what happened last night- fingers are being pointed in the wrong direction!

Due to the number of fake tickets presented, a decision was made to only allow tickets purchased from Ticketmaster as the sole authorised ticket seller for this event.

While we never want to turn away fans,we are simply not permitted to allow entry to customers with fake tickets. We did everything possible to accommodate people who had tickets from touts,however due to the sheer volume presented we were unable to assist everybody.

@yorkbarbican @rickygervais The word 'fake' is being thrown around alot with absolutely NO factual evidence to suggest the hundreds of people turned away had fake tickets!! Staff refused to scan barcodes knowing full well they wouldn't flag.

@yorkbarbican your security staff, particularly one that looks slightly unkept; black scraggly beard. Shouting absolute profanities at paying CUSTOMERS, offering people out, comical behaviour. I'm sure if you bring this to your teams attention, there'll know the culprit!

@barbican refused to scan tickets to determine whether or not the seats had infact been filled and was subject to a scam. Had somebody inside who confirmed seats WERE empty and entry still refused. no way the venue was full tonight - hundreds of people turned away!

Queues longer for the box office than entry to be told once you eventually get to the desk that ALL viagogo tickets were not being accepted.
