🚨50-YEAR-OLD PHYSICS THEORY CONFIRMED: TWISTED WAVES AMPLIFIED BY ROTATING OBJECTS
Researchers at the University of Southampton have proven a 50-year-old physics theory, the Zel’dovich effect, for the first time with electromagnetic waves.
The effect shows that "twisted waves" (waves with angular momentum) can be amplified by bouncing off a rotating object.
Previously, this was only demonstrated with sound waves.
Using a simple setup, scientists confirmed the effect with electromagnetic fields, opening new possibilities for quantum physics and energy-efficient technologies.
The findings, published in Nature Communications, may also improve systems like induction generators in wind turbines.
