I think it is important to clarify to non-upstate NYers that there are parts of upstate that are still very expensive. Saratoga Springs, Lake George, Lake Placid, Finger Lakes, to name a few. Yes, it's dirt cheap on the western side of upstate and the western side of the Adirondacks, but not all of upstate.
