Frontier announced our first OAE deal today - 116k tons through 2026 at the extremely well characterized Halifax Cove in Nova Scotia. Includes a revenue sharing agreements with local tribes and strong partnerships with local University. Frauke has a great thread here sharing more
Quick state of play on Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE): where the science stands, what recent trials show, and why it warrants careful, scaled testing. 🧵
The companies in Frontier’s fifth round of prepurchases focus on two promising but underexplored approaches:
- Ocean alkalinity enhancement
- Surficial mineralization

New CDR offtake announced from Frontier today! Closed cycle biomass-to-electricity facility in southern Louisiana, with power being generated for a nearby data center. Some great details on how we approached responsible feedstock sourcing for this deal - take a look! 🌴⚡️🌎
Arbor removes CO₂ while also producing clean electricity. We're excited to announce a $41M offtake between Arbor and Frontier buyers: https://t.co/PDvH1T69MY
Hafslund Celsio is building the world's first carbon removal retrofit at a waste-to-energy facility, enabled by a $30M offtake with Frontier buyers. Writ large, this approach could remove 400 million tons of CO2 per year by 2050. https://t.co/5GNP9wUF1h
Recent blog and fact sheet from @FECMgov!
How do we talk about scale and capture rates for CO2? CCUS pilots and demos frequently focus on a portion of a unit's total exhaust - this is important for scale-up and fine-tuning CO2 capture operations in different environments.
Important to understand what you're quantifying when talking about a facility's efficiency. It could be 90%+ capture on the slipstream, but less than that on an overall basis. Some projects may need to start by doing partial capture, on path to deeper emissions cuts for climate
Thank you @FECMgov and @ENERGY ! It’s been an honor to have had this opportunity to work with this talented team! With the largest climate legislation ever passed, we’re making history and truly reducing the pressure on future generations. I’m so grateful!
It's me, hi: "industry"=everything we do to produce THE STUFF of the modern economy. lots of it's price-sensitive, trade-exposed & made at facilities w long lifetimes. security of our supply chains=critical. mfg jobs=strong middle class. THIS IS THE WAY. https://t.co/nzyBhZ43HQ
We're partnering with Google to take CO2 removal to a whole new level in the U.S.
The @FECMgov Voluntary Carbon Dioxide Removal Challenge will call on orgs to boost America's CO2 removal efforts to help reach net-zero by 2050 or earlier.
Now, who's next?

Friday was my last day as an Associate Director at BPC. Starting today, I begin a period of leave to serve as a Senior Advisor for Deployment at DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM).
Will miss my colleagues at BPC but excited about this new adventure!
Always sad seeing @BPC_Bipartisan lose another great colleague to the administration. Congrats @DannyBroberg on your new posting at @ENERGY!

Hope everyone was paying attention last week at #DACDay2024, when @AndreasenJack's DAC tracksuit was showcased IRL. Important moment for us all in the DAC community.

Excellent thread from "track suit Jack" on the CDR pilots that dropped this afternoon. 👇
1000 miles begins with one step and gigaton scale begins with pilots.
