NYR Draft Night Summary:
- Absolutely incredible work to get Dorofeyev for the price Drury did. I'm thrilled. Still can't believe it. This was a player I marked as the perfect fit for NYR this summer and thought it was frankly impossible to happen.
- I would have preferred Reid but I don't hate Smits. I think he will be a player for NYR and very very soon. I think the fact he can play sooner in the NHL and just played against men factored into their decision making.
- Happy to not pay that price for McTavish, even if it's a player I'd like to take a bet on.
- Pretty funny that Trocheck is still a Ranger but I'd expect that Drury is officially going to wait for Larkin to be traded first in this situation to try and maximize value and take advantage of a team of a team desperate for a 2C solution
- Seems like Schenider may be staying as well. He's a player I'd still look to trade ASAP and maybe they will but I'd imagine they try and get something done with him soon that can be traded at a later date if necessary.
- I'd imagine Drury has his eyes on around 3 players now in FA, with Mario Ferraro being maybe the most obvious NYR player of all time. Other than that maybe just some depth pieces.
Overall, can't ask for a much better day as an NYR fan unless you were a diehard Chase Reid is the best player in the draft kind of person.
