I told myself:
“It’s not that bad.”
“Maybe it’s just a phase.”
“I still feel normal.”
I stopped testing my blood sugar.
I didn’t want to know.

The Diagnosis I Denied
I was diagnosed with diabetes.
But I kept living like nothing had happened.

I took the pills.
Still ate the carbs.
Still worked like I was 25.
I called it... “gentle denial.”
