BIZARRE. A year ago, B.C. Conservative candidate for #SurreyCloverdale @ElenoreSturko was defending SOGI. She said “as a parent, & member of the LGBT community” it was important to her that misinformation be corrected.

THIS WEEK, SHE’S THE ONE SPREADING MISINFORMATION ABOUT SOGI 👉 The graphic novels she strangely posted on this platform with no context or explanation (see below) are NOT part of the SOGI toolkit for K-12 schools. They are NOT being used by teachers to “sexualize children.”

SOGI stands for sexual orientation and gender identity. Note: we ALL have a sexual orientation and gender identity. SOGI 123 is a program that provides public resources on policies, inclusive strategies, and teaching content designed to reduce bullying and foster respect and inclusion for all students.

➡️ A new report out of UBC finds it has been effective in reducing violence and discrimination, even for heterosexual students.

⭐️ YES, I’m a dad — and yes, I DO want my kids to learn about respect and inclusion. No, I’m not worried SOGI will sexualize them … you know what kids can find on the Internet right? I’d much rather they receive evidence-informed content from trained educators. ⭐️

@Conservative_BC wants you to think SOGI is “dangerous activist ideology.” It’s not. As noted by a group of doctors in Northern B.C. this week, it’s an important resource that helps lower rates of suicide and mental health challenges in youth.

The screenshots posted here by Elenore (which I’ve obscured to avoid X moderation) are from graphic novels/memoirs by queer authors. AGAIN, THEY ARE NOT PART OF SOGI. This lie is being spread by anti-LGBTQ conspiracy theorists to incite anger and score votes.

WHY IS ELENORE PARTICIPATING IN THIS ATTACK ON GAY & TRANS KIDS?
