A practical I did last Thursday (04/11/21) was about biological imaging we looked at Green Fluorescent proteins and spores! I had the chance to make my own spore slide as well as a chance to use a confocal microscope!
Another day, another practical although this one was from a couple weeks ago (28/10/2021)! In this practical we were looking at Comet Assays, we made a buffer, looked at ovary cells and saw what damaged DNA would look! (Drifting from head & would have the appearance of a tail)
I worked as a Student Ambassador for the November Open Day (6/11/2021) doing Campus Tours & even the instagram take over where I spoke a bit about why I chose to do my course and why Plymouth! #plymopenday#Plymouth
Been back to the labs again (21/10/21) looking at analytical precision techniques. Included the preparation of sulphuric acid, standardisation, preparing an analyte then using a spectrophotometer to check it against the internal standard and redox titrations + calculations!
Back in the labs for the first time this year (14/10/21)! We were looking at the presence of the secondary metabolites; phenolics, alkaloids and flavonoids in ribwort!
Had a great week at Slapton, most memorable parts included mammal trapping, camera trapping, learning how to ID species better, scouting out some bats and seeing everyone for the first time in a long time!! 😊 @plymouthbiol
