Gov. Walz has issued an executive order allowing the Minnesota National Guard to stage in case they're needed, arguing that federal agents "have increased tensions, caused chaos, and left our state less safe." This does NOT mean National Guard members will be on the streets yet.
Gov. Walz has formally announced that he will not seek re-election to a third term in 2026, accusing Republicans of politicizing the issue of fraud. @kare11
BREAKING: Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has been elected to a third term, defeating State Sen. Omar Fateh by six percentage points on a second ballot. Ranked-choice voting results just came in. @kare11
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is in Minneapolis appearing with Gov. Walz as part of the @StarTribune's North Star Summit. Pritzker says: "When Donald Trump says that it's a hellhole in Chicago, when he says there's crime rampant across Chicago or Illinois, it's complete BS."
