@slimeinuout@todocampista8 He’s the third player to build his game around foul baiting and become league MVP (harden and embiid). They justifiably received a lot of criticism too, but they didn’t have as much team success which amplifies people seeing the foul baiting.
@DuncanSmithNBA It’s what Adam Silver wants. It’s been his mission to remove physicality from the game in order to demonstrate the player’s skill.
Foul baiting - seeking out and exaggerating contact - is the logical conclusion to emphasizing skill + penalizing physicality
@tomhaberstroh Can you count performatively snapping their head back or flailing their arms up to exaggerate contact next?
Pump fakes + unnatural step through to lean into contact with defender?
Getting defender on back and unnaturally stopping so trailing defender makes contact?
@BobbyMarks42 Duren is not better than Jarret Allen and should not be paid more than him. He should be paid similar to Myles Turner who stretches the floor and is better defensively.
Anything about $30M AAV is very favorable to Duren
@Herrojuku I’m willing to bet there’s been at least one summer which Trae spent more time practicing drawing fouls than he did lifting weights. Thank you Adam Silver
@PistonOfTheDay That’s a great place to start with NOP for Murphy. Troy drafted Stew and Sasser and historically loves guys he evaluated highly as prospects.
If Poole’s contract is a negative asset that could lower Murphy’s cost while helping our bench
@therealwesd3 The problem is they would have to call an offensive foul nearly every time harden shoots the ball. His “natural motion” is to kick his legs in order to get fouled.
Adam Silver would rather see him flop than force everyone to play real basketball.
@pistons_jack He was off balance from getting himself out of position and then flops to sell the call.
Flopping is what Adam Silver wants. He hates players who are strong enough to stay balanced through contact
@bballbreakdown@gullett_james The NBA has rules for unnatural basketball moves. This is not a natural move. They just don’t call it because Adam Silver would rather focus on us watching Wizards vs Nets in March than premier matchups being enjoyable to watch
@JaredGo247@KevinOConnor He (rightfully) has said the pistons roster is inadequate and has convinced himself that means they don’t deserve to win. He’s doing whatever he can to rationalize the pistons losing since it fits his narrative or them being undeserving
@seanhalfcourt It’s insane. They have a rule for “unnatural basketball move” but never call it. They allow kicking out feet, ripping arms through, flailing head back, falling on the floor etc. All of which are embellished which by definition is unnatural.
But it’s what Adam Silver wants
@KevinOConnor@KuKhahil You’ve said the pistons roster isn’t good enough to win and have conflated that with the pistons don’t deserve to win, regardless of performance
Criticize the officiating if you want consistency with soft calls. Don’t rationalize a clear foul because it fits your narrative
