i tried to build alone for months because asking for help felt like admitting i couldn't do it myself.

that was ego, not strategy.

almost everyone i know who's actually shipping has someone in the room with them. you don't get bonus points for doing it solo.

@leobons3 honestly making it to day 33 and still shipping says a lot. the setbacks never fully stop, you just get quicker at digging out of them. pausing outreach on the weekend is smart too, replies tank anyway. what are you hoping clicks this week with Aroha?

@SebastianDevs agree with the timing part honestly. the part nobody warns you about is that when you finally hit that moment, actually finding the right person is slow as hell. so most people either rush it and pick wrong or just grind solo way longer than they should.

@doalkyone the 20 minutes of laughing is honestly the best part of this. building with someone you genuinely have fun with is rare, a lot of pairs burn out once it starts feeling like just work. rooting for you two on the YC app 🤞

@virgilerietsch @StevenBartlett luck surface area is such an underrated frame. the ones who 'get lucky' are usually just taking way more shots so the odds catch up eventually. applying to big YouTuber gigs while you had a stable job is exactly that. what's come from a long shot that you didn't see coming?

i built the first version of BNDER mostly with AI tools. solo. nights and weekends.

2 years ago this needs a team of 4 and a seed round.

the barrier to "just build the thing" has never been lower. so what are you actually waiting for?

@JoshuaIPark @mercury point 2 hits. early on i tried to act on every piece of user feedback and just ended up with a mushy product going in five directions. took me a while to realize a lot of the loudest feedback was coming from people who were never really going to be my users anyway.

@tinytechfox number 3 is so real. i had this whole roadmap for BNDER and the first handful of actual users reordered it in about a week. half the stuff i was sure mattered, nobody touched. the things they kept asking for weren't even on my list. kind of humbling how fast that happens

honestly it's mostly a numbers game, you have to meet way more people than feels normal. YC cofounder matching and hackathons are the classics, hackathons especially since you actually see how someone works. i'm building a platform for exactly this, https://t.co/kFN1pBYKAU. what are you building?

unpopular opinion:

"i'm looking for a technical cofounder" too often means "i want someone to build my idea for free."

the best cofounder matches are two people who'd build it with OR without each other.

find that person first.

wait this is actually a real one, barely see anyone mention it. how's the traffic quality been for you though? curious whether micro influencer audiences actually convert or if it just stays top of funnel. been deep in paid and organic and this creator lane keeps coming up as the slept on one.

@SSShken this is the realization that separates the founders who make it. what worked for me: stop broadcasting, go one by one. DM the 20 people who actually have the problem, have a real conversation, pull them in by hand. it doesn't scale, which is exactly why it works this early.

they die because two cofounders who never should've teamed up met at the wrong party.

finding the right person to build with is basically luck right now.
