PLS READ & RETWEET. A cry for justice for the Dappa’s Family
(A THREAD)
This is a case of injustice shown towards my Dad (Rtd. Cdre PZ Dappa) during his service time in Nigeria Navy by a former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral IE Ibas, who denied him promotion on 3 occasions
The way Baba Ijesha is being celebrated right now is part of the reason nothing ever changes. A man was convicted of molesting a 14-year-old girl, yet people are celebrating him today.
A successful woman went ahead and had a baby with him, and instead of facing public criticism, they're being showered with praise. We're no longer just normalizing these things we're rewarding them.
And somewhere, another man is watching and taking notes.
“He has childhood trauma.” So do I.
“He’s under a lot of pressure at work.” So am I.
“He’s just overwhelmed.” Me too.
The only difference is that we excuse men’s behavior, and shame women for not carrying it.
“Your mouth works” is such a disturbing statement. It reduces a woman to a set of usable body parts and reinforces the idea that a man’s sexual needs matter more than her consent, comfort, or dignity.
HOT TAKE: Someone said “this is the first time in history women are dating men for their character. And that's why no one is dating.” and she was right.
A moving woman will eventually understand feminism.
It is sacrosanct to your self actualisation that you see yourself worthy of the highest form of respect as a human being and not anything less because you’re a woman.
Again, a moving woman WILL learn feminism.
