Reliving history. A trip down the history lane.
As a son in 1989, I made the customary graduation day walk on the stage and my father watched. And in 2026 my son Mohammed Emad Gani Lone made the customary graduation day walk on the stage and I watched. Last year my other son Mohammed Adnan Gani Lone made the same walk.
As we grow older, we reminisce and romanticise those younger days of youth. And as we raise our sons and daughters we realise the sacrifices that our fathers and mothers rendered while raising us. We become true sons and daughters, when we become parents.
Today as Emad walked on the stage, I felt it was me walking on the stage. And I was searching for my father, in the crowds. I could not find him. And I had to be content being a father.
And then it dawned on me. Fathers may die but fatherhood never dies. Fatherhood is a rare constant across generations. And that defines the circularness of life
Although I am abroad but couldn’t stop myself., when I found out that CM sahib had met PM sahib.
A a start to the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar. What a joke. There is a sense of timing. Even if we will be lectured now that the date had been fixed earlier., CM sahib should have met after the protest.
Why do I get this feeling. They did the same in 2019. And met the same PM sahib a day or so before abrogation. And I think finalised who will be housed where after detention.
And how often CM sahib loves to crack a joke at the expense of those who voted for him.
I can visualise CM sahib telling PM sahib. Sir we have to do some bit of theatrics. That fake wooden smile. Sir, Uncle must have briefed you.
Deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Mohd Skindar Malik sahib of Hayan.
Sikander sahib retired from government service as a Tehsildar. He was a close associate of my late father. An excellent human being.
My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Though I am abroad with my family and unable to be there in person, my thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. May his soul rest in jannah.
Irony died a thousand deaths today on Kashmiri politics.
In a move packed with audacity former CM Mehbooba Mufti Sahiba chaired a review meeting at AIIMS.
This is nothing short of a constitutional crisis.
I can’t believe that the CM has not reacted to an event which erodes even further an already eroded power structure in J and K.
This is a direct hit at the constitutional competencies of the elected government. And these constitutional competencies are the constitutional assets of the people of J and K.
They are with the CM for a period of 5 years. He has no right to allow them to be trampled upon or allow to set a precedence for an unconstitutional trespass.
In what capacity did she chair a review meeting of an institution which comes under the domain of the BJP led central government.
Did the authorisation come from Delhi. Constitutionally, She can’t head a review meeting of the local departments which function under the elected government. Chairing Central government institutions review meetings is a constitutional impossibility.
Was there a fresh notification?
A government order?
A special authorization from BJP? Or are we now operating under a new constitutional arrangement where selected few can bypass constitutional protocol.
Are we shifting from a dual power centre to a Troika.
Is she the new shadow Chief Minster.
Can Mamta Banerjee Ji or Mr Stalin both ex chief ministers, chair review meetings.
What is the special arrangement in J and K. Under what law did she chair a meeting of AIIMS.
Is there a third power centre in the offing in J and K. Clarity is needed. Review is good. But J and K, reeling under institutional disempowerment cannot afford yet another round of disempowerment.
It is Mehbooba Ji today. It could be somebody else tomorrow.
Mark my words.
This is not a just review meeting. This is yet another round of disempowerment in the offing. There is much more than meets the eye.
Be prepared for a lot of theatre.
And by the way. Observe the style. Security guards in attendance. Wow.
The hailstorm has had a devastating impact on the upper Rajwar area of Handwara. I toured the area and the damage is visible. The hailstorm cubes were unimaginably thick in size.
The hailstorm has impacted horticulture, agriculture and roads apart from other sectors.
The administration has now issued an order for damage assessment and visits of concerned officers. That is a step in the right direction.
So this is the bombshell threatened by CM sahib. Tourist to the core. A trip to the scenic and beautiful Dachigam.
Dachigam is actually symbolic for today’s congregation. It is secluded, isolated, entry is restricted. That actually sums up state of the present government. Aloof, secluded, isolated and entry restricted.
A little bird told me. The MLAs have been shifted into the Wild Life area of Dachigam. And an ultimatum will be served. They will be told, “ Fall in Line” or else stay back and provide company to inhabitants of the Zoo.
But the inhabitants of the zoo are apparently aghast.
I along with my colleagues at the @JKPCOfficial were to go to the Martyrs graveyard today to offer Fateh for my father Abdul Gani Lone, who was martyred 22 years back on the 21st of May by terrorists.
But the police came early morning and informed me that I have been placed under house arrest.
We had a similar gathering at the Handwara office. This office has also been put out of bounds by the police.
Strongly condemn the house arrest of our party President and MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, on the death anniversary of Shaheed Abdul Gani Lone.
Preventing a son from paying tribute to his martyred father is deeply unfortunate and undemocratic. Such actions hurt public sentiments and have no place in a democracy.
Abdul Gani Lone sb stood fearless against oppression ..a voice of truth, dignity and courage for his people. His legacy lives on in every heart that dares to speak the truth. A true hero, both in life and in legacy.
I have a a humble request for @OmarAbdullah sahib.
We had submitted our proposed plan to the R and B department, under C and T sector.
I was perusing the list released by the department. They have tinkered with the list, deleted some roads sent by us and added some roads which have not been proposed by me.
We welcome additional roads but not at the cost of the proposal sent by an elected representative.
Why are you allowing this? Don’t humiliate and belittle an elected representative.
Now don’t sit back and smile sadistically. What you do to us is what Delhi will do to you.
You bend your back backwards and display disdainful servitude in Delhi and here you want to trivialise the institution of an MLA.
If you are man enough and want to showcase your valorous traits showcase that in Delhi not in allocation of roads in Handwara.
And to those officers who bypass law, this is not the end but the start. That is my promise.
Bungus Valley deserves to welcome tourists once again. With most tourist destinations reopened after the Pahalgam incident, I request Hon’ble LG @manojsinha_ to also reopen Bungus Valley in District Kupwara.
Reopening this breathtaking destination will revive tourism, support local livelihoods, and create opportunities for the youth of District Kupwara.
Once upon a time in the year 2026, in the ex state of J and K there was a government.
And in the government was a minister.
And also in the government was there was an engineer posted in Kathua and promoted to the next level. He sought the help of the minister for transfer to mainland of winter capital. And poor guy did what he was asked to do.
About 24 apparently. When the list came out he was posted to borders in the peer Panchal range.
Poor guy doesn’t know what has hit him. The guy who got 24 won’t budge an inch. He refuses a refund and insists on 10 more for modification.
Once upon time good bye. And good luck to those who voted for them.
Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Farooq Ahmad Peer of Tarthpora who was father of Shabir Ahmad Peer.
He was son of Late Molvi Saifudin Sahab who shared close ties with Lone Sahab.
My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. May his soul rest in Jannah.
I remember in 2015 I cast my vote in Rajya Sabha. Our party did not have a candidate but the ruling alliance requested us to have an agent of their choice. The said person was a non MLA and checked my vote and that of my colleague and fellow MLA @bashirdaradv
It seems highly improbable that PDP or NC did not know the rules.
Appointment of agents is the most important step in these elections.
The rules are clear as enunciated by @umerjournalist in a tweet. There is no ambiguity. And a party can appoint an agent, whether the party fields a candidate or not. The only time when you can’t appoint agent is when the party does not want to appoint an agent.
That NC did not insist on appointment of agents and PDP simply did not appoint agents hints at a much bigger spread in match fixing.
The RTI by @umerjournalist strongly indicates that at least three parties BJP, NC and PDP, were a part of the Rajya Sabha match fixing. And that BJP could
not have won the Rajya Sabha seat without the support of NC and PDP.
Good luck to the people of Kashmir. Unfortunately the joke is on them.
Wishing Political Secretary to JKPC President and Media Relations Incharge @tasaduq_yaseen a very Happy Birthday.
May this new year be a new horizon of success and prosperity all your way
