JUST IN: Trump to attend Asean Summit, says Anwar
US President Donald Trump wil attend the Asean Summit in October, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced.
Anwar said he was informed of the matter during a call with Trump earlier this morning.
Earlier this month, US secretary of state Marco Rubio hinted at Trump’s possible attendance at the Asean summit in October.
Anwar also said that the new tariffs rates for Malaysia will be announced tomorrow.
“God willing it will not be a burden on our economy,” he said when tabling the 13th Malaysia Plan in the Dewan Rakyat.

Since the ceasefire agreement to stop all conflict and firing at Cambodian border positions was implemented, but on the morning of July 29, 2025 at 5:18 am, the Thai military used tanks with about 30 of their troops along with tanks to fire at the Chom Tae position (ជាំ តែ) then they used their infantry to fire on us on Cambodian soil. I sent this report to our commander, "Bong, until now, Thailand is still invading us, what should we do???" But our commander asked to stop the shooting, no action was taken. The Thai side, when they saw that we were not firing back, they continued.
We escaped the fire to save our lives, but Thai called us to stop discussing with each other. Because we saw their waving hands, we stopped and turned to them and we spoke.
And we didn't go near them, we stood far away from them.
When we returned to them, they greeted us as if they were ready to stop everything between us, and then they asked for a group photo to show us that they both of us agreed with the ceasefire but when we were taking photos with them, they called their group to come down from the forest and focus on us from behind. Then, 20 of our soldiers (one free, two suspected dead) who were arrested by Thai soldiers in Chom Tae have not been released yet! After the ceasefire, Thai soldiers came to shake hands with our soldiers and then arrested us!
