Ukraine has made a virtue of necessity, and we have become highly proficient at asymmetric warfare.
Australia, on the other hand, has for decades depended on technology asymmetry to maintain qualitative technical over-match in the region.
The F-111 fighter bombers, the Oberon and then the Collins class submarines, the F-35 strike fighters, and the E-7 Wedgetails are a few examples.
Ukraine has shown that these exquisite, highly technical, and platinum class warfighting platforms are very hard to defeat, but there ARE asymmetric ways to counter them. And counter them we have.
Australia has embarked on a new, high technology, and high lethality project to cement its regional technical military over-match: the AUKUS nuclear-propelled submarine capability. This is essential for Australia’s continental island, sea-trading strategic environment.
But just as Australia would not dream of embarking on a nuclear submarine program without the integrated collaboration and co-operation of the US and the UK, so too do I urge Australia to embark on close collaboration and co-operation with Ukraine on asymmetric warfare, whole-of-nation air surveillance and air defence, ballistic missile warfare, and drone/counter-drone warfare at sea, on land, and in the air.

@AmbVasyl 💯 agree Australia’s cooperation with Ukraine on ballistic missile warfare, and drone/counter-drone warfare at sea, on land, and in the air is a perfect synergy. Ghost Bats + Gripens over Ukraine skies too! 🇦🇺🇺🇦
@AmbVasyl@NMAsiaPac I invested in EOS this year because of its advanced technology and cooperation with Ukraine to improve the situation on the battlefield. Great to support such partnerships between Australia and Ukraine that have positive outcomes 🇦🇺🤝🇺🇦
@BohuslavskaKate It’s so fucked up how ‘normalised’ this has become in the West and how ineffective we are. Meanwhile you all suffer.
I honestly don’t know why our governments are so weak and haven’t rained fire on Moscow by now 🤬
Keep posting, Kate. Stay strong, Ukraine. And fuck RuZZia
@Yagami_Returns@gynaeceum Marian Kushnir pulled 4-year-old Milana out of burning apartment near Kyiv after Russian drone strike.
Yet you refuse to hate them because you studied them and they have a “beautiful language”?
I hope a Russian drone finds you one day and you have a beautiful conversation.
@Yagami_Returns@gynaeceum So you support war crimes?
Tens of thousands of Ukrainian children forcibly transferred to remote regions of Russia.
International arrest warrant for Maria Lvova-Belova.
POWs executed.
Tell me more about demonizing Russian culture.
@gynaeceum This is Misha. He was 6.
A russian missile hit his home in Uman. It killed his sister Sofia, his brother Kyrylo, and 20 more civilians — including six children.
russians killed them.
Never forget.
Now tell me again about that great Ruzzian culture 😡
@PawlowskiMario@PinkSaguaroFarm Just remember it has human-phobia too. Chances are it’ll avoid you as much as you want to avoid it. Maybe set up your mattress in the loungeroom for a couple of nights and it’ll make its way out ✌️
@NMAsiaPac@WarintheFuture@AustralianArmy 💯 and I hope we are learning as much as we can now. The pace of change is phenomenal and we need to adapt so we don’t fall behind.
