Fuel Subsidy: By 2023, the Buhari administration had cancelled what they call the subsidy, saying we're not going to get involved in the importation of fuel in that sector. We're not going to get involved in the importation of fuel. Let those who want to import fuel into the country bring it in and sell it at a commercial rate.

So by the time President Tinubu announced in May [2023] that the fuel subsidy was gone, it had already gone, because not a dime was earmarked for the subsidy that year.
