On a panel, I met a fund manager who said he only backs post-charisma founders.
According to him, charisma is a distraction.
He told the audience that his best founder once pitched him while he was on a ladder fixing drywall.
The founder refused to stop working during the pitch.
He took the call on speakerphone and kept muttering “quarter inch shim” while discussing his CAC.
He then said, “That’s when I wired the money.”
Everyone in the audience clapped.
