I’m gonna simply say this: if you are at all interested in a Stargate show with ANY of the original creators/performers involved, now is the time to say something. Otherwise it really will be the end of that chapter forever. Let them know you are THERE

Sadly, it's true. Amazon has elected not to move forward with the new Stargate series.

There's not much I can add beyond confirming what's happened. But I will say this...

Creator Martin Gero developed a new Stargate series over two years, ultimately crafting a show that offered a fresh jumping-on point for new viewers while deeply respecting existing canon. It was a series that avoided the pitfalls of several modern remakes and reboots by fully embracing the core of its predecessors: action, adventure, exploration, wonder, heart, humor, and found family. And based on that creative vision, the new Stargate series was greenlit in November of 2025.

As of today, officially, that original vision is no more. We'll never get the opportunity to introduce you to that world and those characters - or reintroduce you to, and check in with, some familiar faces from the past.

My heart breaks. For the incredibly talented writers who worked tirelessly to bring this show to life. For Martin who maintained an unwavering positive outlook throughout despite the challenges, and who always strove to make a show that would honor the fans while welcoming a new audiences. And for the long-suffering Stargate fandom who waited so long and came so close to getting a show they truly would have loved.

@DiscussingFilm The one question I have is, how long would it take for them to reach Earth (Thrag etc)? They didn't have any ships or anything so surely it'll take them a while to fly?? 😂

I have a solution for Star Trek that can tie in United and remove the Kurtzman universe entirely:

Years into his presidency, Jonathan Archer and the nascent United Federation of Planets are rocked by escalating temporal anomalies that threaten the Romulan War peace and the young Federation itself.

Starfleet traces the disturbances to the still-unresolved Temporal Cold War, and discovers that the shadowy “Future Guy” who once manipulated the Suliban Cabal was none other than Archer himself, projected from a devastated 28th-century future. In that broken timeline (the one containing the Burn, the Federation’s near-collapse, and all the Kurtzman-era cataclysms), a desperate Archer had volunteered to become a non-corporeal agent, trying to steer 22nd-century events toward a stronger Federation.

Instead, his well-intentioned meddling fractured the prime timeline, birthing the divergent horrors he was attempting to prevent.

Working with a time-displaced descendant and a preserved message from his own Enterprise crew, President Archer confronts his future self in a temporal nexus aboard the new flagship USS United. He convinces the older version to stand down, allowing the original, unaltered timeline to reassert itself.

The Kurtzman-era disasters are retroactively erased, revealed as the “bad future” that no longer exists, restoring continuity and ushering in a stable golden age of exploration. The series then proceeds from this corrected prime timeline, with Archer’s presidency now free to focus on building the Federation we always wanted to see, setting up ongoing stories of unity, diplomacy, and discovery without the baggage of the last decade’s continuity snarls.

I've been thinking lately about old TV shows and VFX.

It just dawned on me that almost all 90s shows are 4:3 even with a remaster. Despite having a few seasons on Sci-Fi Channel in 4:3, Stargate SG-1's DVD releases were all in 16:9. This meant the VFX did EVERY single episode in the 16:9 format from the VERY BEGINNING.

Unlike other shows... Babylon 5, Star Trek: TNG etc, Xena, and practically any other show I can think of before HDTV took off, they all did 4:3. I wonder if this has a lot to do with SG-1 starting on Showtime. And despite having seasons 5-7 in 4:3 (I think 8-10 were available in HD iirc), we always got the incredible 16:9 love.

I wonder whose decision it was to keep doing that? It seems like it would add more work and take longer to render, but the show has really stood the test of time visually thanks to it, I feel.
