Reports poured in: A Giant Marching Out of the South Pacific, causing Biblical-style hurricanes and earthquakes.
Panic choked the world. What is it? Godzilla? Creature? Demon?
When the Giant touched down on the coast, turns out it was just God. Then some people really panicked.

As teens we roamed our tiny town, fleeing the cops, hiding beer in the junkyard, playing manhunt in the soft glow of the streetlights.

Then we went to college, committed suicide, started families, became alcoholics. I still see some of the old guys—the ones who are still alive.
