Well, that was wild. I'm at the Australian Parliament and just left a meeting with two staffers for the governing party. They told us that the government needed more power to censor things like the upcoming US execution of Nidal Hasan.
When I asked why they needed to censor that video, one said it was to prevent copycat killings. Copycat killings by governments? I asked. Er, no, they said. Copycat killings like of a backpacker, several decades ago.
So, under that logic, I pointed out, the government should censor things like last year's Bondi massacre, where two Muslims killed 15 people, no? Well, that was news, they said. Didn't they realize their bill would allow the government to censor news? They didn't seem to know, or care.
They also admitted that they did not know that the bill would allow the government to create and operate an unlimited number of fake social media accounts to attack its political enemies and spread disinformation. Having presented them with information they had never heard about a bill they had clearly not read, they emphasized to us, strenuously, that they were moving forward with the bill.
So there you have it. The government wants the power to arbitrarily censor scenes of violent crime, or violence, for any reason. And it wants the power to use an unlimited number of fake accounts to wage offensive disinformational warfare against the Australian people.
Given that the Bondi massacre last year increased public opposition to mass migration, and support for the populist One Nation Party, it seems obvious that the government wants to censor such events in order to protect its political power.
It's quite telling how obediently governing party members insist such a law is needed without even knowing what's in it.
A little taste of supermarket profits versus the banks in NZ.
The four big banks’ latest annual after-tax profits totalled $6.6 billion ( all Aussie). Woolworths NZ made $32 million on $8.49 billion in revenue.
That’s a 0.38% net profit margin. Not even half of one percent. Just 38 cents for every $100 in sales.
But sure let’s go after the supermarkets. And while we’re at it let’s go after the independent NZ-owned operators too. Makes perfect sense @NZNationalParty@NZGreens@nzlabour

Know anyone driving junk Chinese EV’s?
China’s spy cars : Tonight Australia’s current affairs show got a tech expert to hack into a BYD Shark - a Chinese built car challenging Toyota for the most sold brand in their market.
Guess what, it has zero cyber technology to prevent hacking, they were able to control the car from a laptop. These things are just Orwellian mass surveillance devices.
Cars nowadays, especially Ev’s, and especially Chinese EV’s are just mobile malicious spyware. I laugh when I see people driving these hunks of CCP crap - it will film you, record what you say and send it back to China.
Welcome to your digital prison. If China ever wanted to take over a dumb western country that has bought these lumps of crap, they can just turn the cars off, OR use them as weapons easily enough. Our govts will in time make a law that gives them access to your EV anyway… keep your old car.
Worth watching the 4 corners clip, a current affairs show, meanwhile in NZ, our current affairs show is Hilary Barry and Newsboy discussing how you can tell your cat’s favourite colour.
Can someone explain the reason for fuel the excessive fuel prices in New Zealand, when per barrel is still much lower than it has been in recent history 😩
@gsapienza@theJayAlto What does acknowledging that something is designed to be as addictive as possible have to do with taking responsibility for your actions? 😂😂😂 If you seriously think smartphones are all positive and no negative then you're delusional. Good day smooth brain.
@gsapienza@theJayAlto Do you think the subject in this post falls under nearly any progress? Or is there some validity to smart phones being infinite slop machines, portable casinos and a 24/7 surveillance device?
@gsapienza@theJayAlto So because we may live in the greatest era in human history we should not criticize things that suck or are detrimental to our society?
