Rockstar has decided to a court order forcing Discord to surrender personal data from around 100,000 users. Most of them never leaked anything. Innocent bystanders got swept up because a multi-billion dollar company decided their leak hunt mattered more than privacy.

Now think about Discord is going push for age verification.

If they start collecting IDs and face scans “to protect kids” that data doesn’t stay locked away. The next time Rockstar (or any other giant with lawyers) wants someone, they already have a ready-made list of real names, faces, IPs and device IDs sitting there waiting to be handed over.

You can get wrongly flagged and still end up in their system. There is no real process. Just corporate power backed by a judge.
That’s why Privacy shall have exists for a reason. It is the only barrier to stop greedy companies and out-of-control platforms from turning every chat into a surveillance tool the moment it benefits them.

Governments corruption that let actual rapists, murderers and kidnappers walk free suddenly act like social media is the biggest threat to children. That priority is completely backwards.

Age verification plus data seizures is not protection for children. It is a permanent record waiting to be abused any time!

Fuck rockstar.

We have to fight back against government corruption and abolish age verification!

Update:

They’re not just hunting the leaker.

Take-Two got court approval to pull personal info (emails, phone numbers, IPs, device IDs) from ~100k Discord users across multiple servers... including DarkViperAU’s 90k-member server.

Most of those people are complete bystanders who had nothing to do with the leaks.

A multi-billion dollar company turning Discord into a mass surveillance tool the second their IP gets threatened.

And remember… once they have that personal data, there’s no real guarantee they can even protect it.
These big companies get breached regularly. When (not if) it happens again, your info is just sitting there waiting to be leaked.

Greed + power = this exact playbook.

PlayStation’s CEOs since Jim Ryan, and all the way to Nishino and Hermen Hulst have ruined the image of an iconic brand and made the worst decisions possible, and now they’re trying to penalize players for their failure🚀

✅They’re distant attitude towards fans have been going for years, when they stopped doing any live events or major appearances at E3 and the likes, which took away so much from the sense of communication with fans

✅Maintaining a cold and purely corporate approach towards fans

✅Forced studios into a failed live-service chase, leading to cancelled projects, erratic studio closures, and massive resource waste.

✅Acquiring and shutting down many studios in the last few years before they had the chance to produce anything

✅Overspent on acquisitions and projects, notably a $3.7 billion investment in Bungie and an estimated $400 million loss on Concord.

✅Barely any innovation with games, as they rely on 4 main brands for new entries, and remakes and remasters of them

✅Increased prices for PS Plus and hardware while the output has been abysmal

✅Now they’re trying to force a digital-only future where much of this corruption and incompetence will be amplified

✅They are using manipulated data to engineer this narrative that physical games are a niche market, by calculating DLC, MTX, digital only and free-to-play as “digital purchases”. Whole global physical sales for games tell a whole different story

✅64% of the world has no dedicated PS Store, meaning 64% of the world will not be able to legally acquire video games per Sony’s terms

✅Games that consist of a code in a box are region locked too

✅Ditching physical media means no competition, no options, pricing hikes and reliance on the mercy of a storefront and its functioning networks, and their support team in case issues occur

These CEOs need to go. Sony needs a team that is passionate about video games rather than vultures or feed off the blood of gamers to appease their shareholders alone.

Crazy to see how far Sony has fallen off, from this level of respecting players to whatever they are now.
