The closing chapters of the Book of Isaiah capture Isaiah’s prayer for redemption: ‘Redeem your people’ (Isaiah 63) and ‘Remake your people’ (Isaiah 64). The Lord God issues a powerful reply ‘I will restore my people (Isaiah 65) and ‘I will refashion my creation (Isaiah 66).

Isaiah’s prayer vs the Lord’s response.

‘Give the Lord no rest until he completes his work, until he makes Jerusalem the pride of the earth’ (Isaiah 62:7) and the Lord God replies: "I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word" (Isaiah 66:2).

Isaiah ends by summarising the major themes of his book:

(a) God exalts the humble and contrite;

(b) The Messiah is coming to take vengeance on his enemies;

(c) All nations will see God's glory; and all flesh will one day worship the Lord.

Isaiah is a sobering reminder of the painful consequences of:

(1) Taking God lightly;

(2) Ignoring his promises (and thereby forfeiting his blessing);

(3) Ignoring his warnings (and thereby incurring judgment); and

(4) Ignoring his invitations (and thereby missing the joy of a personal family relationship with God).

Isaiah's prophecy is long. It contains more chapters than any other Old Testament prophetic book. His message is however simple and concise — judgment and comfort: judgment for those who fail to heed God's voice, comfort for those who do.

Isaiah vs Revelation.

Only the God of the Bible is TRUE.

He amply reveals Himself throughout His Word without error. From Genesis to Revelation, you see this clearly. You don’t need any outside validation to prove that Scripture interprets Scripture.

Indeed, whether it’s about prophecies or revelations, Scripture affirms itself as the immutable Word of God. The concluding chapters of Isaiah validate this statement.

Just pay attention. Read the text, compare and meditate on it. Isaiah’s conclusions are seen in John’s Revelation. It’s no luck, not an accident either. It’s God’s Word manifestly proving itself to be TRUE.

(a) New heaven and new earth (Isaiah 65:17; 66:22; Revelation 21:1)

(b) The Judge in bloodstained garments (Isaiah 63:1-3; Revelation 19:11-13)

(c) No more weeping or crying (65:19; Revelation 7:17; 21:4)

(d) Peace like a river (Isaiah 66:12; Revelation 22:1-2)

Gospel of the Day (Matthew 13,54-58)

Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, "Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds?
Is he not the carpenter's son? Is not his mother named Mary and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?
Are not his sisters all with us? Where did this man get all this?"
And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house."
And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.

False worship has never pleased the Lord God, never. We pretend to have Him at heart outwardly yet deep inside us is sin. We need a cure. That cure is repentance.
