סאלי רוני טוענת בבית המשפט שהיא אינה יכולה לפרסם באנגליה כל עוד התמיכה שלה בארגון הטרור הפלסטיני “פלסטיין אקשן” נחשבת בלתי־חוקית - כי היא, שימו לב- מנועה מלקבל תמלוגים בגלל תמיכתה הזו. זה הכול. לא סתימת פיות, לא רדיפה פוליטית - פשוט פגיעה בשורת הרווח.

ובכל זאת, רוני מציגה זאת כ"פגיעה בחופש הביטוי האמנותי".

רוני היא סופרת נדירה. משפטנית - קצת פחות. חופש הביטוי מבטיח את הזכות להתבטא - לא את הזכות לקבל תשלום על ההתבטאות. אם חופש היצירה שלה באמת עומד מעל לכל, היא מוזמנת להמשיך לפרסם מבלי לגבות תמלוגים. איש לא עוצר אותה מכתיבה, פרסום או הפצה. רק מתשלום.

וזה העניין עם דור המהפכנים בשקל הזה. שהם רוצים להנות מכל העולמות. קצת קשה לשחק אותה מהפכנית עם חולצת צ’ה ולא להיראות מגוחכת כשביד השנייה את נאבקת על כל פני של תמלוג (ורוני, העולה מנתוני המכירות, לא רעבה ללחם).

תמיכה בארגון טרור מגיעה עם עלות. מי שרואה בעצמה לוחמת חירות אמורה להבין שמאבקים אמיתיים לא תמיד משתלמים כלכלית.

אגב זו אותה רוני שחתמה לא מזמן על מכתב הקורא ל–New York Times להפסיק לפרסם מאמרים של ישראלים ששירתו בצה"ל. כלומר, כמעט כל מי שחי כאן. חופש הביטוי שלה - קדוש. של מי שנולד במקרה במדינה הלא נכונה וגם ככה די אוכל חרא מיום היוולדו? פחות.

אבל בסוף מה שהכי מכעיס הוא האכזבה האישית שלי ממנה: איך לעזאזל אמנית הומניסטית מצדיקה ארגון טרור בלי להבין שהיא רק מתדלקת את הסכסוך. לא עוזרת לפתור אותו.

אה, אולי כי היא לא באמת רוצה שלום. רק להיות מגניבה.
