We are pleased to welcome Dr. Monica Navia-Urrutia to the Everglades REC team. She recently joined EREC as an Assistant Professor in the Plant Pathology Department.

Dr. Navia-Urrutia's research and extension will focus on plant pathology of sugarcane, sod, and rice. @EvergladesREC

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Niguss Solomon Hailegnaw to the @EvergladesREC team. He recently joined EREC as an Assistant Professor in the Agronomy Department.

Dr. Hailegnaw will be working on nutrient management of sugarcane, sweet corn, rice, and various vegetables. He will also serve as the Director of the Everglades Soil Testing Lab. #IFAS #UF

The UF/IFAS Spray Rodeo Field Day was a great success with several high school students form Glades Day FFA @gladesdayschool and Glades Central FFA in attendance at @EvergladesREC. These students had the opportunity to get hands-on with spray equipment calibration and learn more about pest management. @UF_IFAS @NationalFFA

The 2024 @ASA_CSSA_SSSA #ASCMtg opened on a meaningful note, acknowledging the Indigenous people of South Texas with a traditional dance by the American Indians in Texas at the Spanish Colonial Missions (a nonprofit based in San Antonio). A powerful way to kick off the meeting!
