Bees are responsible for pollinating about one in three bites of the food we eat. They are far more important to humans than any AI tool or data center.
Really wish there was a lot more focus on all the clean energy opportunities in Canada. So many to build but all the oxygen in the room is sucked up talking about a pipeline that no private sector proponent will risk their own money on! Let’s win in energy transition! 💪
Here’s a story about how I was owed 219 records about the Greenbelt scandal when the Ford government’s FOI-weakening bill received Royal Assent on Friday.
NEW: The mayors of Brampton and Mississauga are urging the Ford government to pause the planned merger of conservation authorities suggesting the move would pose “significant and immediate risks” to three of the province’s largest cities.

I remind Canadians never take medical advice from politicians. You define emergencies - not them. The ER is there for that. I'm constantly reminded by the il-advice of Ontario Premier Ford who said in 2025 "Do not go to the emergency department for a sore throat" 👇👇👇
Some of the cases I have seen with a "sore throat" include acute leukemia. Yes - an acute widespread cancer needing urgent treatment. With a sore throat that didn't get better with antibiotics.
Other cases are serious infections of the throat like retropharnygeal abscess - a serious infection behind the throat.
Another case was epiglotitis which can be an airway emergency. I have had these cases of "sore throat" where I'm on the phone STAT to anesthesiology to consider placing an airway in the operating room.
One case was Ludwig's angina which is a devastating infection of the floor of the mouth needing the airway secured in the operating room. ER doctors like have taken such patients to the OR directly and prepared to do an emergency surgical airway along the way.
Other "sore throats" have been a peritonsillar abscess needing myself or a surgeon to drain the abscess in the ER.
Other cases are solid head and neck cancers coming in with "just a sore throat" but needing chemotherapy and radiation.
The lesson is the same over and over again. If you know very little or nothing about medicine - a sore throat is just a sore throat. But if you have training, experience and a dash of humility - you don't put your foot in your mouth and give uneducated medical advice potentially jeopardizing the health of others.
Don't take medical advice from politicians. The public defines an emergency. Not doctors or nurses and definitely not politicians. Thanks for reading this.
Scientists and former conservation authority executives say Ontario's proposed conservation authority amalgamation could be setting the stage for less flood protections and more land grabs by developers.

On this day in 1918, Lt Col John McCrae, Canadian Medical Officer serving in the First World War, died in France.
His poem In Flanders Fields, written three years earlier in 1915, became the enduring words of Remembrance.

The @OntScienceCtr opened 56 years ago today, on Sept 26, 1969.
A gift to Ontarians for Canada’s centennial, a radio signal from over 1.5 billion light-years away struck a circuit at the OSC to raise a curtain, opening it for all.
Doug Ford, age 4, could not stop the launch.
Hi kids .. #HandmaidsTale (the book not the series!) has just been banned in #Edmonton…don’t read it, your hair will catch on fire! Get one now before they have public book burnings of it.
If we can’t live without water, why are we poisoning our rivers? If we can’t live without forests, why are we cutting them down? If we can’t live without soil, why are we stripping it of life?
We depend on nature—not the other way around. So why are we pushing our best ally to the brink?
Celebrate scientists.
Defend evidence.
Teach your kids the difference between data and dogma.
Because the next life science saves…

My plea to the Canadian government: pick up the half a billion dollars in mRNA research defunded by RFK Jr. Make Canada a global player in mRNA vaccine research,
