A recent analysis by the Duke University Law School shows substantial racial differences in fines and 1/3 of such are never collected. @JusticeCBeasley, to have a justice system that’s equitable for everyone, we need the immediate adoption of the ability to pay rule.
Since 1999, the number of criminal court fees has increased from 4 to 45 and the base cost for use of court has increased from $61 to $173, oftentimes on the backs of those least able to pay. @JusticeCBeasley It’s time to #EndCriminalJusticeDebtNC.
