@deanelazab It wouldn't frustrate me so much if I hadn't been so excited for it ;_;. And yeah, the part about not being able to touch more veteran players is a symptom of the tag system I have a much longer, even nerdier rant about lol.
2xko has always very clearly lacked an outside editor. Most lawyers practice or run arguments by parties, often non- lawyers, with no knowledge or stake in the case because they notice when baseline pieces are missing that we may overlook as insiders who can fill in the blanks...
2xkos top tiers and strategies are so woefully predictable that they literally cannot nerf the top characters hard enough to balance them. Conversely, it's basically impossible to imagine blitzcrank or Darius being very good without a glitch they would then patch out.
There's about 20 other issues I have with the game, but they are more so preferences than things I think are objectively lacking. I truly hope the game pulls through, and that the new "vision" they mentioned is a game that's less curated and more flashy.
As a result, we get the same frustrating 100 percent combo garbage that frustrates people about versus games without the goofy, unintentionally good stuff that makes bad characters viable and wows people seeing it for the first time like, ironically, apologymans mvc3 team...
A lesson which we should have learned from earlier, fgc-insider developed games ("Skullgirls version 1 has no infinites"). 2xko characters feel like they were designed to do marvel 3 length combos by one dev in a day, without accounting for players figuring out more...
People like variety, even if its not perfect. Release more rushed characters, change things that over-perform, and fix the game as you go. There's a time for leaving things to settle for competition's sake, but its not in prerelease. If a nerf kills ekko just rebuff him lol.
Do not understand the approach that cotw took and that 2xko appears to be taking regarding early balance at all. You have a "pre-release" game that obviously has major balance issues -- just make reactive changes, and trim back if you overshoot...
It feels like they are placating the tiny group of "pro" players traveling for the game that is supposedly not even released yet rather than making sure people onboard in the first place. Just look at what made league successful...
