Peaceful SPSC Protesters Booked Under Anti-Terrorism Charges in Sindh

Hyderabad:
A fresh controversy has emerged in Sindh after the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) administration reportedly lodged cases under anti-terrorism provisions against candidates who participated in a peaceful protest outside the SPSC Head Office.

The protesters were demanding transparency, merit, and accountability regarding the commission’s examination and recruitment processes. Demonstrators claimed they were exercising their constitutional and democratic right to peaceful assembly when law enforcement authorities intervened.

According to reports, several candidates who gathered outside the SPSC office were later booked under serious legal provisions, including sections related to terrorism and public disorder. The move has sparked criticism from civil society members, students, and social media activists, who described the action as excessive and an attempt to suppress dissent.

Protesting candidates alleged that instead of addressing their concerns, authorities resorted to intimidation and legal pressure. They maintained that their protest remained peaceful throughout and called on the Sindh government to withdraw the cases immediately.

Human rights observers have also raised concerns over the use of anti-terror laws against demonstrators, arguing that such measures could discourage citizens from exercising their democratic rights.

No official statement has yet been issued by the Sindh government or SPSC regarding the allegations.

There’s no tanker water to be had in karachi. Shortage due to some pipeline leak. A pipeline which is illegal in the first place. Water lines which run to houses have been dry for years so tankers are the only way to go in Clifton.
