I don’t like this thing they do when something happens with someone they’re close to, and instead of talking to the person, they go on a media round to talk about it. Go and talk to the person about it na. What if after all the media rounds, you people settle? If you’re my person and I have an issue with you, come and talk to me about it. In 2011, all I wanted to be was an actor—like Jenifa. 😂

I didn’t even let my parents waste money on JAMB. Instead, I slid into Funke Akindele’s DMs on Twitter to ask how I could join Scene One School of Drama.

I eventually joined, and honestly, it felt like the beginning of a whole new life for my teenage self.

I remember one particular location for Azonto Girls. I was homesick and wanted to leave the set. I told FA, and she asked her sister to give me some money. I went straight to Computer Village and used it to upgrade my phone to a BlackBerry Curve 2. 😂

It may have seemed like a small gesture, but it meant so much to me. I noticed even then that she treated her students with a kindness and generosity that was different.

Fast-forward to 2026, and somehow, our paths crossed again. But this time, I’m no longer that teenage boy looking for an opportunity to become an actor.

I’m a creative who gets to work with her.

And the beautiful thing is, the kindness I experienced back then hasn’t changed. If anything, it has grown even bigger.

You’re not just a client to me. You’ve become a big sister, a mentor, and someone whose journey continues to inspire mine.

From sliding into your DMs in 2011 to working with you in 2026… what a beautiful full-circle moment.
