🇲🇽 The next boss of the CJNG cartel is likely El Yogurt!
Abraham Jesús Ambriz Cano, alias “El Yogurt,” is a rising leader within the CJNG. He heads a branch of the Fuerzas Especiales Mencho (FEM) called Operativa Yogurt (also known as Los Yogures or Yoghuriza). He currently has men operating in Jalisco, Quintana Roo, Colima, and the Sierra Madre Occidental in Michoacán.
Yogurt was born on March 16, 1997, in Apatzingán, Michoacán. He began his career in the cartel world working for Los Viagras, who were then part of Cárteles Unidos (CU), an anti-CJNG alliance.
During that period, Yogurt was known for his friendship with other CU leaders, such as Luis Barragán Chávez, alias “El R5,” leader of the Los Reyes group.
By 2022, Yogurt had switched sides and begun working for the CJNG.
Reports indicate that the CJNG recruited Yogurt not for his skills as a combat commander, but for his talent in developing and improving drug trafficking routes into the United States. He was allegedly assigned as the regional leader for U.S. drug trafficking in Colima and Jalisco.
Yogurt reportedly prioritizes hiring former soldiers from the Colombian or Guatemalan armed forces, something he can afford thanks to the substantial revenue he generates for the CJNG through drug trafficking.
This focus kept Yogurt and his men active outside Michoacán, but in late 2022 he briefly returned to the state amid a resurgence of violence. His men, previously allied with Los Reyes and Los Viagras, had to fight them.
In December 2022, Yogurt released a video denouncing a local commander he accused of collaborating with the CJNG.
In May 2025, the Mexican Navy attempted to capture El Yogurt in Huitzontla, Michoacán. His men fiercely counterattacked, resulting in 12 dead CJNG gunmen, 3 wounded marines, and 9 captured gunmen. He escaped
