Clearly the local Forest Service has almost no budget for local communication. So, why not ask local TV stations to donate their expertise and facilities to make these important meetings up to a standard that would be useful to the public? #Bobcatfire.
The first community meeting for the Bobcat Fire was a Zoom capped at 500 people. The second was the same, with the addition of Youtube videos that could not be found. The third was a Youtube on which the sound was so garbled it was barely understandable. #Bobcatfire . . .
The excellent twice-daily briefings posted on Twitter are done by a very able trainee--so regarding this fire, the public face of the Forest Service is a very junior staffer (who is doing an excellent job). #Bobcatfire . . .
US Forest Service announced a Zoom meeting about the Bobcat Fire in LA County, CA. But the limit on the meeting was only 500! This fire affects many thousands of people. Terrible planning. #Bobcatfire
@Scott_Dayman Yeah, I'm a light user. And I know USFS is working mightily to contain the fires. But last week I was on a Zoom presentation with more than 2000 people. They need to know that this is bad planning, when they advertise it all over local media, and then limit it to only 500.
