This is the sexist mindset that makes many parents treat their daughters harshly. This idea that girls are naturally sweet while boys are naturally badly behaved, so when a girl doesn’t meet those expectations she’s treated like a deviation or abomination instead of a child in need of guidance.

It’s completely normal for little kids who have poor emotional regulation and developing moral reasoning to act out sometimes. It’s their parents’ job to help them understand why their behaviour is wrong and guide them to better choices. Why bring children into the world if you expect them to come with a preinstalled and fully developed sense of right and wrong? It is literally your job to teach them that.

We need fewer people having daughters who expect them to be little angels before they’re even born. It is dehumanising and sets them up for a life of dehumanisation. Daughters are human. They act out too.
