@JackSni28167438 @WriterHannahBT I first heard about a hoopoe a few years ago, in an episode of a tv murder mystery. I was sure it was a made-up bird name until I joined #FirstBirdOfMyDay. 🤣
@WriterHannahBT#FirstBirdOfMyDay: White-throated sparrow, taking off along with the rest of the gang (sparrows, mourning doves, cardinals, finches) on my arrival to bring them food

@Deeside_Sparrow@WriterHannahBT I haven't come up with one yet! I've been watching him, though, and have realized that he does not chase all birds equally. I'm trying to determine if he bases his decisions on bird size or location (there are 4 hang feeders and 1 ground feeder). Inconclusive evidence so far. 🤔
@TycjanC@WriterHannahBT I had a near-miss flyby of house sparrows this afternoon, so close that I leaned back to get out of the way. 😆 They do everything full-throttle, don't they? Eating, squabbling, flying on to the next adventure.
@WriterHannahBT#FirstBirdOfMyDay: Northern cardinal. I hate to admit, my attention has been so occupied with mourning doves that I didn't realize until this week that we have a "bumper crop" of cardinals this year, too. Nearly as many as the doves!
@WriterHannahBT#FirstBirdOfMyDay was a single dark-eyed junco, examining sunflower seeds. As the morning got a little brighter, I realized that juncos were everywhere!
